How FUN this game can be!
So after growing more and more tired of starting in '39 at Kiel or Wilhelmshaven, I broke my own rules and started of in France in mid-1940. One great patrol down, in the middle of the second one. Convoy encountered both times, about dozen ships sunk so far (six, give or take, each patrol). Big fun.
The problem is that while attacking the convoy during the second (current) patrol, I was attacked by escort ships and a destroyer happening to be close by. A total of two minor ships (a frigate and a corvette, methinks) and two destroyers hunted me relentlessy, and I've now taken some serious damage and currently find myself on the bottom off the coast of Ireland. I've used all my compressed air trying to keep from grounding. Eventually, though, I ran out and had to shut down the engine and drift, bow first, to the bottom. I managed to stop the flooding, and since I'm running GW and that blasted Realistic Repair Times mod' I just downloaded, I'm looking at 4 hours, real-time, of nothing but sitting there on the bottom, 135 metres below the surface, while the "Flooding Recovery" timer slowly ticks down from 2000 minutes. The first thing I'm doing when I get back to port is increase max. allowed time compression while hunted/in shallow waters from 8 to something significantly higher. What a game:rotfl:. Thank Goodness I've got homework to do. |
The only reason i have a TV close to the Computer is this one. :p
|
Oh joy, I realized I had accidentally left the repair team idle.
I've only got to wait 614 minutes (divided by 8 due to time compression)! Yee-haa! |
OMFG........you really wait that long? I mean, I know what a long waiting means (My brand new gaming comp. is due on Tuesday or Wednesday, yaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrhrhhjjjjgggg:damn: :damn: :damn: ) but still, you actuall wait that long ingame????
|
I've got a book to read, other games to play that require nearly no resources, and homework to do. And a dog to play with.
I'm doing just fine:up:. |
If you can wait till the bars open I'll send you a beer mate :D
|
WEll....I have two cats to play with.....oh wait....they're sleeping 22 hours a day......:shifty:
|
Damn just be patience...
Safe-Keeper: damn i have so much damages, i leave the computer on the whole night so my crew can fix the boot in the mean time.
Safe-Keeper-wife: Oh dear, did ya know your computer is on? Safe-Keeper: Yeah i know, they try to fix the bloody boot, but it takes 2000 minutes. Safe-Keeper-Wife: i hope your windows dont find any updates, because you set it as "reboot computer"... Safe-Keeper: NOOOOOOOOOO MY GAME, MY TONNAGE ALL GOONNEEE!!! WHAAAAAAAAHHHH.... Hopefully you dont have that situation.... be sure your windows dont have to reboot when update is installed.... But if ya crew fix ya boot, CHEERS!!!! |
Also fun is, when ur just about to push the big red button (fire torpedo) the power goes out :stare: Pzzzzztttttt..pat..
and the target ur where going to shoot is an Carier?! you will laugh ur ass of, believe me. |
Even in the name of "realism" that's just far too long to wait for a game that's supposed to be enjoyable to play. Sorry :( That might have been how long it really took, but in SH3 that's just insane.

if you had an experience like that before that an DD is hunting you and you cant shake them that easy and ur lucky if you did. then the next time you hear that the SO sais ''We've been detected , sir'' then you're mind will automaticily give one reply ''CRAP!'' |
Guess who stopped the leak, pumped all the water out and managed to lift the boat off of the bottom and sneak away back to port?
I feel like the captain of U-96. Except there was no air raid upon return home:up:. Couple of good news came my way. First of all, the leak was stopped after a pretty short time, meaning it took less time to pump the water out. Second, only one more destroyer came my way when I got the boat off the bottom (the other ships had all run out of depth charges). |
