As a former, advid ocean fisherman, im going to be blatant, and blunt; and blame F'ing Japan and their god damn gill nets. They raped our coasts years ago, and the fishing has never been the same since. Fish is a high valued commedity over there. Yellowtail or Albacore used to catch on rod and reel could sell for 300 USD over there last i heard. Seafood is like their staple diet, so their fishing industries are hard at work, raping and pillaging the worlds oceans. Eventually, yes, they'll be nothing left.

Yummy Soylent Green.

I doubt the fishing industry will continue when they are even half way to that point. Right now they are struggling to make money and they haven't even depleted 20%!!

Hey the U.S. ought to have a pretty abundant supply the EEZ is adequately patrolled and NMFS has a moritorium on most fishing licenses and strict catch limits. Is there poaching here in the U.S. you bet your sweet arse there is but it's nickle dime stuff. Red Snapper and Goliaths are making a big comeback. Shrimpers in the SEUS are taking a hit now because of new regs so even penaids will soon have a brighter future. Most sharks here in the U.S. EEZ are a restricted species too. Unfortunetly last I heard we are not doing to well with the swordfish slack catch limits in commercial and recreational industry.

Of course nations like Japan who use gillnets and European nations that overfish migratory pelagic species will cause our fisheries to struggle especially with Tunas. Central American shrimp industries have a tragic effect on endangered and threatened sea turtles.

FISH ON!

Half of the fish consumed today is already farmed.
