Mission Summary

I'm on my 8th patrol and have sunk 3 large cargo ships and 1 medium cargo all British. I'm out of torps so am returning to base. When I exit and save mid-patrol, the mission summary says that I have sunk 4 neutrals. This has happened on all my previous patrols as well. Not a major problem as I always get the correct renown and am currently 2nd in this list of u-boat aces. Just curious to know why they are listed as neutrals rather than Allied ships sunk. Anyone else notice this?

I have no idea. It shouldn't be happening. Do you use any mods????

Captain Nemo 11-02-06 08:00 AM

I am using GW1.1a. No other mods installed.

It's strange. I'm using GW as well and never had that problem. I know it might sound silly but are you sure they were British ships??? Another idea is that you might have saved the game before a ship went down, or in the vicinity of a harbour. Is this the case??? I'm sorry if I cannot be of any help but I'm trying to think what might have caused the problem

Captain Nemo 11-02-06 08:19 AM

Definitely British ships sunk and listed in my log as sunk. It's just that when I save mid-patrol the summary lists for this patrol Neutrals sunk = 4. This has happened on my previous patrols as well for British ships sunk. I think it was the same for me in the stock game as well. When I get back to base everything is fine, I get the right renown, awarded medals etc. Strange.

There is one solution I can think off. Don't save ingame

melnibonian 11-02-06 08:43 AM

Well as long as you get your kills as British it's OK. Imagine how it would be otherwise ;)

I agree though it is really strange

I must admit I use the save game feature quite a lot (even submerged!!) without any major problems. Perhaps this issue is something to do with that, but it's not a game killer. I wish I had the time not to have to save, but real life just keeps getting in the way.:D

I have had this happen to me. I'd installed a few mods (no idea which ones - sorry) over a patched version of SH3 and as already described above, all my tonnage was listed as neutral. I uninstalled everything (including the main game - hadn't backed up D'oh!!!) and re installed and now (touch wood) it's all hunky dory.

Sorry I couldn't be more help but at least you know that it's not just you!

Thanks robbo. Docked at Kiel this morning and the mission summary still said that I had sunk 4 neutrals. For this I still got an Iron Cross First Class and 876 renown (49% realism) and am leader in the u-boat aces list. Strange bug.

I don't really want to do a re-install as it is not a game killing bug, I'll do it when GWX comes out.

Well it turns out there is nothing wrong with my game at all:oops: . The mission summary screen can be easily mis-read leading you to believe you have sunk neutrals rather than allies, at a glance it looks a bit skewed. Counted lines from the bottom rather than the top and it shows the correct info.
