same for last hour or so--probally down for maintenance--everything else seems okay

It's been like this for about 3 or 4 days now.

Potoroo 11-02-06 09:39 PM

I emailed Martin about that but he hasn't responded. The email didn't bounce but it's all a bit worrying.

Tuddley3 11-03-06 12:19 AM

I PM'd him at UBRS.

Coming back from my (short) holidays yesterday I noticed that A SINGLE user (IP-Range 194.6.233.XXX) had tried to kill the entire DLC by flooding the system maliciously with thousands of requests for the same file.

The IP is blocked now, UBRS DLC up - and I bet it's even harder now to bring it on it's knees: In case of high demand and request peaks the systems switches automatically to an exclusive server, where the database alone then runs on a Intel Core2 Duo 1,8 Ghz / 2 Gig server. I mean - such a server for ONE database - should be sufficient for GWX. :D

I see a lot of new uploads...I'll transfer them, let's say, in the next 48 hrs: The usual things you have to to when you just came home have priority NOW. I spent the last 1.5 days just to negotiate with techs and my hoster.

Guys, get your torpedos ready, target IP 194.6.233.XXX (hmmm...should post the whole IP, so we could keelhaul this b@#tard!

FIRE!!!!!

Good to have you back on, mate!

<Edit: Full IP deleted - Gizzmoe>

Gizzmoe 11-03-06 11:33 AM

That was the router IP address of an Ukrainian internet provider.

Tuddley3 11-04-06 03:35 AM

Should we :/\\chop him, or :fff: him. I wonder if that would have any relation to the Dorks & No Mann3erz brothers from the June incident. http://foolstown.com/sm/vis.gif

What idiots finds pleasure in busting up a site like UBRS? The site runs on dedication and donations, and are a much appreciated tool in the general naval & submarine simulation community! I could understand if they attacked some political servers, but then i'll guess that those b@#tards dont have guts to do that! Woooo, "big hackers", up my shiny, tight @ss!:damn:

GT182 11-04-06 08:47 AM

Just a supposition but, could all this hacking of UBRS be a plot to destroy it by those that have commercially used the "Free" mods for their own profit?

terrapin 11-04-06 06:50 PM

Dunno...

All files previously pending in the queue are published now. Normal ops 'til the next incident:-?
