Did I miss something?
 

I was just wondering if the democrats or anyone for that matter has any ideas/solutions to the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan or regarding terrorism for that matter. I was not sure if I have missed any awesome solutions by anyone regardless of party or beliefs...seems all I am hearing from both party's canidates is mudd slinging...personally I don't really care too much about skellys in the closet we all have them granted...unless they are harmful to someone but what I am intrested in is solutions and results.My wife and I voted for Clinton both times and GWB both times...I guess we are Democratic Republicans...?...anyway was wondering if anyone knew of any ideas that they thought were good...My son and I had thought dividing the state of Iraq seemed like the only solution to help curb the viloence in Iraq and to my amazement I saw on the news that that idea had been suggested but not thought of as a viable solution....seems like the only solution to me....when you have sects/religion/races etc killling each other without regard then the first step would be to seperate them....Did I miss something?

Your solution was brought up by myself on many occasion as well since Saddam was only able to hold together through violence what the British actually created. These people cannot live with each other and this country needs to be divided like it has been throughout history. The only way it is going to stay together the way it is, is if the Iraqi police and military start getting violent themselves, and somehow I don't think that is going to happen as long as the US stays in the country.

I think people back away from that idea because the British tried that solution and that is why the political boudries in the ME look as they do. The religious factions that make up Islam preclude a easy fix that a partition would seem to provide. We also cannot dismiss the economics of oil in the region. A partition based on purely religious or tribal boundries will almost certainly lead to a civil war over the money.
A much more rational and egalitarian, although long term solution, is a movement away from religious sects and tribalism, and a move toward nationalism. I know nationalism is an ugly word to some, but without a sence of everyone working toward the same goal we cannot expect any change in the foreseeable future.

Good point Waste Gate...as much as the idea of seperation is not favorable to many is there another choice? do nothing and continue as is or what...what is excatly anyones plans for this place...I think it is becoming obvious that this is probably the only way to seperate them by borders and bombs by force..or let em kill them selves but as America stepped in as it did I don;t think running away from there is a good idea...the killing has to be stopped by force...my 2 cents..
