Can You Identify this Aircraft?
As it says, this is the first time I've seen this....
http://img334.imageshack.us/img334/9461/planepk4.jpg I'm currently patrolling the med. Edit - I am a Dumba$$:damn: :damn: forgot about the museum:D |
That's one spooky-looking thing (the cockpit windows). I'd submerge on sight:o.

Savoia-Marchetti SM.79

Before everyone answered I could tell by the wing markings that it's Italian. Dunno where that freaky paint job came from. It looks like a custom job.:hmm:
|
Actually that's a fairly standard desert paint scheme.

It's called a Sparviero I think.
|
Yes, the SM 79, and ther paint scheme was standard Italian Med. Scheme. They had some on their fighters that were real cool looking, but a pain to reproduce on a model unless you make a template to use.

Nice Find:up:

It was used as a torpedo bomber and level bomber with good effect on the Malta convoys, I think it was also used as an anti-submarine aircraft as well.
