Jutland version and issue

I have the full version of Jutland installed. The main issue is that the game will not start now (after having not run the game for about 2 weeks) I can see network activity when I try to start (phone home?) get the splash screen which quickly disappears and then nada.

Also noticed that the version of the file DG_WWIp.exe stays at 1.0.0.0 Isn't the program supposed to auto-update patches?

Signed up for a support account, but no response yet.

Thanks

:)

The DG_WWIp.exe doesn`t say anything about the game version. As for the game not starting, do you have Vista as OS? Then run the game as administrator.

I am not sure what you mean. The file properties are:

Company - Albireo Productions - Norm Koger
File Version - 1, 0, 0, 0
Internal Name - Jutland
Languages - Language Neutral, English (United States)
Original File Name - DG_WWIp.exe
Product Name - Jutland
Product Version - 1, 0, 0, 0

XP, not Vista . My user ID has administrator's rights. The game ran fine two weeks ago.

Thanks

:)

How long are you waiting between the splash screen and giving up on it? In between the initial splash screen and the game starting, the game is trying to phone home and check for updates. It lets your connection time out up to 10 times before giving up. All this time, the game will not show up in Task Manager because it isn't running yet.

If you haven't run the game in 2 weeks, you're due a patch or 2. The game will automatically try to download them immediately after it checks your license. So what I'd guess is happening is that something on your end is blocking the download. Firewall perhaps? Anyway, it won't run until it downloads the update.

You might try dropping your firewall, or otherwise telling it that SES downloads are OK. If that doesn't work, look in your main Jutland folder for any files called *_log.txt, and send them in.

Bullethead,

Will do. I just let it run when I try to start. There is some network activity, and yes I do have security software, which I have disabled. But will dig deeper and let you know.

Thanks for the response,

:D

Still no joy. Security software and firewall are turned off. Checked all permissions.

DG_WWIp.exe runs for a few seconds, I can see it in task manager, then it drops. Sometimes there is a network spike while DG is running for a few seconds, then it drops and does not retry.

The game worked before! Like I said, I didn't run the game for about two weeks.

And no response from SES in more than 24 hours.

Thanks, :shifty:

Well, sometimes it takes them a while to figure stuff out. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Bullethead,

Thanks for the support. I have submitted a ticket and will post resolution here. It could very well be some fubar on my part, but the game was running fine 2-3 weeks ago.

Thanks again.

Ok, I tried uninstall-repair from the Jutland_setup.exe - Got an error 2753, which means? Corruption in setup files, or a problem with the registry? Tried control panel unistall, same thing.

Downloaded and ran microsoft windows installer cleanup utility. Removed Jutland. Downloaded fresh jutland setup and ran. Install went smoothly, downloaded / patched to version 1022.

Game runs, detected my license, etc.

Hope this may help someone in the future.

Thanks again

;)

Glad you got it straightend out. I take it you're BenBow on the other forum?

yankee-V 02-20-09 02:46 PM

Yep, that's me. It sounds like some kind of corruption. I will amend my ticket with SES to include the 2753 error, if you think that will help.

So did someone delete my post on the other forum?

Sounds like a good idea to me.
