I'm not familiar with NIS, but shouldn't it have a section dedicated to trusted websites? If you insist on having NIS, try to place the site in that area.

Are you behind a hardware based firewall? If you are, only have the anti-virus up and running. NIS is well known for causing multiple issues on computer systems.

I used to have Norton, but I found it quite a resource hog. Moved to Zone Alarm.

Agreed

For anti virus I'd recommend nod32

Lots of good advice here. My choice would be AVG free edition. www.free.grisoft.com although I have nothing against the others mentioned above. I do have plenty against Norton though (except that I get paid to remove it from people's systems). It causes many problems.

You get paid for removing Norton (would indicate/suggest a technical level of knowledge regarding PC's)....yet you choosde AVG free ahead of nod32 :o

Most bizarre :hmm:

Each to our own I suppose.....good luck matey

If you are wanting a free firewall...they can obtain a linux distro and put it on an older system with two nic's. They also have a few linux based software firewalls out there too.:up::rock::rock::arrgh!::arrgh!:

FIREWALL 02-12-08 10:15 AM

Norton: Bad,Nasty,Ugly,Fat Hog. :nope:

AVG 7.5: Good,Sweet,Pretty,SuperModel ;)

FIREWALL: NOT Had First Coffee . Speech Not Working Yet :dead:

Good Morning to All. :sunny:

Just an idea - make sure your Flash and Shockwave are up to date. You may be hitting a banner that an old version of Flash may not like for example.

Thanks.

Unfortunately that means every time I visit someones house, they go "say, I've got this problem that maybe you could look at......"

Ughhh! Maybe I should tell them that my time is typically worth $150 an hour? :D *sigh*
