What should be the -realistic- StormConditions values?

Regarding the guns, I mean.

As a VIIb captain, I see many times, that the waves are merely wash over the lowest parts, and the deck of the U-boot arent moves that mutch, that an experienced crew wouldnt handle a gun. And of course, still cant man the guns.

My main question is, that -what- are the values meaning, compared to real life?

StormConditions=7,0.1;max wind speed [m/s], max rain intensity [0,1]

All weather gun mods usually uses 15 as a replacement for 7.

But whats the -meaning- of the number? The wave height in meters? XD
Or what?

And what the: max wind speed [m/s], max rain intensity [0,1] means?
As in a heavy rain, and devastating wind may really hinder the targeting useless...

So I trie to decide, what should be the realistic choice of values.
So when a basic kaleun started to think it over twice, before sending out the crew for the gun?

How to compare this numbers to real life?

Thank you, and regards

Keep in mind that the wet-weather clothes are also tied to those settings. If you can use the gun in any weather, they'll never put on their raincoats.

I keep mine set to 11 m/s, and I use SH3 Commander's Seasonal Wave Height setting. If I can see the water washing over the deck, I don't man the guns, no matter what the game says. Likewise I never transfer external torpedoes in anything worse than a flat calm, even though the game lets you do it in a raging storm.

You are right, thats even more realistic, to let the kaleun control everything.

But since SH3 doesnt have random storm accidents scripts,
and crewmen arent endangered to wash away, if I send them out in a storm,
I feel a need of a reminder-

OR a "storm's dangers" randomised script, which activates after a given stormconditions value, and runs in once in every minute - and the chance of the random event depends on the value.
and crudely kills a person, or two sometimes.

Since im new to SH3 modding, and can only edit cfg's and such :D
I cant write that script right now.

(though im really curious about it, how to do it sooner or later.
Been a POTC, and AOP2 mod programmer for a few years- but havent got a clue about SH3 build up, and scripting yet :dead: )

So thats why i need an estimation that what are this numbers meaning.
I mean, whats the "number" of a storm, when the waves start to heavily wash over the gun deck, or when the U-boot is shaking like no civilised man can aim, or stand fast.

SH3's waves are toned down somewhat. The max is 15 m/s. Someone once worked on trying to make more severe storms, but couldn't make it stick. Once inside the game again it would revert to the original settings. His solution was to double the size of the waves, so it looked like twice the actual setting. That 'Big Waves' mod is, as I said, incorporated into SH3 Commander, which so far is the best tool for playing the game. It allows you to change parameters with a single click, and adds more to the campaign than you can imagine.

Yes, I also use SH3 commander. :)

Just trying to understand the measures, to what to expect from like a value of StormConditions 10. Compared to 15, and the stock 7.

I search for the thin line between somewhat restless sea, and STORM!! XD
to find when they should leave the gun realisticly.

I wondering was there any Kriegsmarine written rule, or kaleuns
sometimes ruthlessly sent their man to death :D by manning the gun.

Eh, writing that storm accident script would be the best....
Wonder where to start :Kaleun_Binocular:
