I have jumped in with both feet on this 3D Printing Malarky bought a Flashforge Guider II took me and next door neighbour to get it upstairs its a big beast unpacking and setting up bed leveling took around ten minuets.

Think of it as a Borg cube. :D
Serious, such a thing could be a model railway builders dream, or not? |
Being deeply involved in Air Guns?
We do A LOT of 3D printing of parts. |
What's the normal maintenance like on that beast?
No, no, no, I don't need one. :wah: :har: |

This thread reminded me about two ideas I had...well still have.
The first is old...got the idea when I was sitting and building a ship models, while watching the news..they had an issue about this new thing 3D printer. Not so long after came the idea..open an online hobbystore where the buyer buy software programs to their 3D printer, where they use their own material to print the parts to their models. Second idea is so far...impossible I call it reversed 3D. Simple. Again an online store, a buyer buys a set of cups-Each and one of these cups are then dissolved into atoms...and send wireless to the buyer.. How can I dissolve a solid product, send it and assemble it again, without creating the heat which will occur ?? One day I may get myself one of these 3D printer Markus |

You will find yourself wanting to make your own parts and looking into CAD software. Personally I'm partial to Autodesk Fusion 360 and it may still be free for students and hobbyists. There is a significant learning curve but lots of YouTube tutorials.

I know lots of people using FreeCad.
I use 3DSMax myself but also have FreeCad. https://www.freecadweb.org/ |
if I should purchase one of these 3D printer it would be for building models.
Car, ships, airplane and architecture. But is there an online hobby store, where you buy the blueprint of a model so you can print the parts on your 3D printer ? If not, why hasn't any been thinking on making such a store. Markus |
