Don't get any sight warnings

Hi,

I have a problem with my guards on deck. They don't report any sighted ships. In one moment I am swiming in endles lonlieness and in the next I am surrounded by torpedo boats. No message in the box no TC 1.

I am using TWoS in 2.2.12. Can anyone help?

You must deactivate travel mode so that you get alerted and get TC1 on aircraft or ship sightings. It's the last upper icon on the right in your picture.

You should also get a voice message 'Rauch am Horizont auf xxx' and the English message in the box when you first approach any asset.

That's strange because TWoS doesn't have German texts and especially doesn't have the problem you've just described, regardless of travel mode...Check your modlist, don't alt-tab the active game, check TWoS quick start manual...Cheers!

Thanks for your answers. I'm using a german translation mod for WoS.

After ending my patrol all my gaurds are fresh at work and are reporting again. But now my sonar guy isn't able to detect two fast running passenger ships on closest range :ping:. I have the feeling that these problems appearing and disappearing as they want.

The sight reporting has nothing to do with the travel mode as I know.

Has Travel Mode any function in WoS then? What if you deactivate it?

I guess OP is using the 'Deutscher Sprachpatch' which translates all menu.txt into German text. I don't use it because it messes-up with the names in the ID Book, but it will turn all messages and menus into German.

You have dived and are on slow speed, right? Because on surface: no sonar contacts.

Yes, sure. My sonar man only reports if I tell him to follow the nearest contact.

He should tell you without your intervention, unless after a very tough stressed game sequence where the crew loses morale, in this case crew could perform poorly (thus the sonar man NOT reporting contacts he could otherwise.) Also every time a crew man gets injured, his behavior is bad...

But even with no 'stress', my sonar man will report contacts for merchands or warships in a fairly long range (often more than 20 km away if you stop all engines or go not more than 3 knots), so this means something is messed up with your TWoS installation. The doc states clearly that no external mod must be used with this megamod, if you infringe this then you are on your own and nobody can help you...
After TWoS 2.2.9, it is required that you start a new career after updating WoS, did you do that?

The best you could do is re-install the game and TWoS. Your savegames should still be usable, and if not (when you encounter problems) then start a new career.

Hi,

thanks for your replies.

The hydrophone-man is not injured and has enough moral points atm.

I‘ve also startet a new campaign after installing TWoS.

Yesterday I was on route to hunt at night into a british harbour and my crew spoted an escort when we were at a range of 1500m. A sunked escort and a few minutes later my crew „spotted“ a torpedo boat at about 500m. This is a ridiculous. This situation escaleted in a hunt for me with two destroyers and the torpedo boat. I told my sonar man to listen around: nothing, told him to report closest contact: I got the dates for the torpedo boat. Listening around is useless for me.

Today I will try to reinstall the game and the TWoS Mod without my german translation mod but I don‘t think that this mod is the reason for this situation.

Backup your savegame folder before re-installing (give it another name than SH5 in your Documents folder).

Things that can affect your crew’s proficiency:

Morale: You never have a fresh crew. Morale in this game is like an hour glass. You constantly lose it. Depending on your actions, you can lose more than normal. Loading games can use up more as a defect.

Speed: if you are going too fast, Benno your hydrophone guy will be deaf by percentages. Go all stop often!

Depth: if you are using TWoS 2.9 or higher (never used lower myself), you need to dive deeper than 20 meters to get a better read from Benno. 40m or deeper for best hydrophone read. I have personally tested this with great results.

Watch crew: the best way I can say this... the faster the TC you use, the more likely you will run across planes and ships without any warning. I never go past 128TC. The worst I get at 128, are planes get close, the TC drops to 1, but no announcement of the plane! So I dive for safety.

Can you show us the content of "Time Compression" in your file main.cfg located in your savegame folder...

...\DOCUMENTS\SH5\data\Cfg

For the current WoS 2.2.13 it should show this:

[TIME COMPRESSION]
; The first value is the default one, the second value is used when 'travel mode' is activated.
; The two values should be separated by a comma.
; If only one value is specified, that value is used for both default and travel mode.
TimeStop=0
RealTime=1
LandProximity=1,64
CriticalDamage=1
CrewEfficiency=1024
AirEnemyDetected=1024
SoundEffects=2
CharacterAnim=64
FriendDetected=1024
EnemyDetected=1024
RadioReport=1024
Particles=32
PrayState=1
HunterState=1
3DRender=1024
Maximum=1024

If your file is different, then you will not get warnings in time by your watch crew, although this has no impact for hydrophone contacts. Be aware that when installing WoS you need to wipe your savegame folder before, otherwise these files will stay and NOT be overwritten, which may cause WoS to play out wrongly.
