A 737 on the way to Rotterdam airport where it crashed in fog due to bad visibility and completely unhelpful Air Traffic Controllers... :damn:

Nah, it crashed not because of weather and ATC, it crashed because the cheeseheads shot it down! You must punish them at once with an extensive bombing campaign against major population centers and windmills.

Arclight 04-21-10 03:04 PM

We will prevail for as long as we have cheese. :smug:

Still my favourite liner, the 737. :yep:

One of my very few successes in WWI combat - I'm not exactly a competent airman. Things don't look too good for the SE5a pilot, who's visible above his aircraft on the left hand side.

That went well... :damn:

Lionclaw 05-19-10 07:02 AM

Some heavy damage there. Did you have time to bail out or did your pilot die before ground impact? :)

Dowly 05-19-10 07:09 AM

I haven't gotten so far as to check what's the eject key. :O:

Lionclaw 05-19-10 07:10 AM

I think it's "CTRL + E".

Arclight 05-19-10 07:38 AM

Just to make sure; it is combat damage right? Not some horrific start-up accident. :hmm2:

Dowly 05-19-10 07:42 AM

What is this "start-up" you are talking off? :O:

Lionclaw 05-19-10 07:53 AM

There's some damage to the airframe itself other than the burning engines, must be combat damage.

A panel is missing on the nose, damage on the the tailfin, a missing wing, left gear is missing.

Dowly 05-19-10 08:08 AM

2 missile hits. :yep:

You underestimate the potential to fail at start-up and take-off. :O:

Yes... yes he does... *sigh*

Schroeder 05-19-10 11:41 AM

That looks somewhat expensive.:O:

Dowly 05-19-10 11:53 AM

Some glue and duct tape. :O:

Arclight 05-19-10 02:42 PM

And when you do get away from the airbase:

Try #1: get all the way to target, then shot down by Hind.
Try #2: forget engine anti-ice en-route. Subsequent engine-failure makes for a rough emergency landing, leaving you with all rotorblades halved.
Try #3: doorbell rings while en-route: Pizza!. Find yourself splattered across a mountain on return.
Try #4: get there, deal with the targets and go inbound to check and pop some rockets. Turns out there's this tit with a MANPADS behind a tree; trees don't have collision: they block your view, but AI can spot and shoot through them no problem. No missile warning either of course, since the Shark only has RWR. Subsequent explosion causes engine failure and sees you "land" right between 2 vehicles, who promptly riddle you with bullets... at least the ejection seat was still operational.

This sim is so harsh. Absolutely awesome, but harsh.

Lionclaw and me en-route.

Task Force 05-19-10 02:44 PM

Yep. Its a great sim. Just gotta try to remember what buttons do what. lol

Dowly 05-19-10 03:14 PM

The only problem I had was that Arc was my teacher. :DL

Lion: Dang, left rotor brake on.
Dowly: Is it on by default?
Arc: Yes, at start.
Dowly: Oh ffs!

But hey, I did a barrel roll it on so. :O:

Only thing I really have problems anymore flying wise is hovering or more precisely understanding it. Same with trim, need some practise. Otherwise I got it quite well, even went in for some low alt town cruising.
