Hawk's website tactics'n tips for SH1
 

Hello fellow subsimers!

I wanted to know if some of you rember Hawk's now none existing website's tactics and tips so that we can all use each others knowledge for our silent hunter 1 and Silent hunter commander's edition gameplay.

What I rember is:

-The fact that you can "deck gun" an aircraft by putting ~10 degrees and fire when you see the aircraft's propeller, but only use this as a last effort when you are stuck on the surface, because always try to save the crew or dive before the aircraft drops it's presents. It takes 3 hits to kill an aircraft.

-to save up fuel on long patrols, put speed at standard to full because going at flank speed is not very fuel efficient (personal experience)

-to use the TDC's target tracking capabilities under water with out showing your scope,
1)You will have to put you TDC in auto when you have a visual on the target.
2)change to manual, press space to key in a bearing, and then drop scope and look at the TDC's range dial to see it change as the target is actually coming closer to you.
NOTE: when using this on a convoy, aplly this to a merchant and don't forget to usually update your manual TDC's info by repeating the steps above.

-When on a photo recon, press TAB to take a picture.

-I remember that there was a very detailed analysis of the destroys tactics that I might post later, once I have done tests with the mission editor.
