All jokes aside, that's a really stupid idea in my opinion. It does offer good protection but if they were to bomb those tunnels, rock, and other earthy materials could fall and damage the sub and ships. That may sound dumb, but I don't really care. |
:hmmm: well,all those bombproof WWII subpens on the French coast, essentially 'manmade' caves, are still standing....just a quick scan for this post: the pens at Trondheim Norway and Lorient France are commercially active facilities 75 years on!

Its not a new thing, it was done in Albania, Sevastopol at Balaclava is probably the most famous and right now Musko Sweden is still operational.

Kind of think the GBU-43/B would seal any tunnels.
