Nice one Kratos! I heard last night on radio while sitting in the base with the JG53 guys that back in Normandy, the Luftwaffe boys are scared to fly anymore. The broadcast mentioned something about some crazy skirt wearing Scot with his face painted like if he was William Wallace shooting heaps of 109s down lately. That's you they're talking about? :rotfl:

Dogfight over Ypres, November 1917.
On November 14th, 1917, 2nd. LT. James Plainview engaged two German aircraft at about 2000 ft. altitude, just above Ypres. He managed to shoot down one of them, the second one was credited to a Sopwith Camel pilot who saw the opportunity while Plainview in his Sopwith Pup was busy with the first one.

How did you get swatstickas on your plains? are they just skins or can you turn them onn and off?

Dowly 04-09-08 06:32 AM

@Seth

Pleeease, next time, dont quote all them pics, unneccessary load to the thread. :up:

And as for the swastikas, yes those are painted to the skin, BUT you can get them to show up for the stock markings by using a program called IL2Stab:
http://mission4today.com/index.php?n...etails&id=2169

It also changed few more things, like adds the correct finnish markings (blue swastika standing on it's foot).

@Tater

Nice, was just yesterday reading the 2 BoB map threads "over there" and only goes to show how lazy Oleg and his mapmakers were for IL2. Very detailed work coming hopefully soon. :up:

Another 2 good sorties last night with JG53, just forgot to record track from the first sortie. :damn:

Anyways, the 2nd sortie on 27th of October 1942 was a task of JG53 escorting a captured Russian Yak-9 fighter, flown by Gefreiter Morts from our home base to a more safe, rear airfield for study and test flights.

We had 8 escorts + the Yak-9 on our flight. We made contact with the rather large force of 11-14 Russian fighters somewhere around midtrip to the rear field. The losses for us were extraordinary high, with 4 BF109s wrecked from which 3 resulted in a KIA (2 109s were lost in an midair collision during the dogfight).

We downed all of the intercepting fighters and despite our heavy losses, managed to escort the captured Yak-9 to our target, where it was slightly damaged on a failed landing.
