One of our submarines, not so much a novel, more a very well written account thats both tragic and humourous that centres around the U class boats.

This book is about submarine warfare but not from the German perspective.... which is why I didn't post it here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.ph...ubmarine_reads

Written by Bob Whinney;published by Cassell (first published 1986); ISBN no. 0-304-35132-6; this small paperback reprint 2000

The memoir of a Royal Navy Destroyer captain in WW2... I only found it today so I can't give a view yet

Not the best and certainly nowhere near the worst.

There a lot of "good" books on submarine warfare in WWi and WWII

Is there something specific that you are interested in?

That might help us recommend some books

I thoroughly enjoyed:

Torpedo Junction by Homer H. Hickman Jr. - a riveting and accurate account of Operation Drumbeat, the U-boat war against the United States Eastern Seaboard

Iron Coffins by Herbert Werner as he outlines his experiences commanding German Uboats during WWII

Steel Boat, Iron Hearts by Hans Goebler who details his life as a crewman aboard U-505 in the days and years leading up to the U-boat's capture on the high seas.

on this list i would probably rate Iron Coffins as my favorite

With regards to Atlantic warfare there are two excellent books available by Clay Blair...

Hitler's U-Boat War: The Hunters, 1939-1942
Hitler's U-Boat War: The Hunted, 1942-1945
