Thought it's about time I posted here with an assortment of pics from our missions:

Holes? this is what I call holes - http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...7-57-46-71.jpg

All caused by blowing up an IL2 and being a little TOO close to the explosion!

And now for some assorted shots from our missions:

How's this for a landing -

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...7-03-02-72.jpg

I was just catching up on my mission screenshots for II./JG53 and remembered on the 17th October 1942 I got a little snow blind and came it too hard, snapping off the port gear leaving me to glide in on two wheels with a dramatic spin and semi nose over infront of the rest of the squad.
A great example of piloting abilities :damn:

Another, this time of a nice bit of formation flying between myself and the gruppe adjutant Rudolf Klauss on the 27th October 1942 -

And one from the 23rd October 42 where we had Dowly flying special assignment in a BF110, such a nice day to be flying -

Thats a few nice ones although I have plenty more for the blooper reel though :rotfl:

Dowly 04-15-08 03:37 AM

Yayy! More from the blooper reel!

BTW, sry I havent been around lately, Friday I was out and dont know where did I put my d*ck this time but I've had quite abit of a fever since saturday. Checked last night before going to bed and still running at 38.1C, ~36.5C being my normal temperature. Doesnt feel any better today, either. :nope:

I beg to differ.:)

Von Hohn's D.II might not surpass the Camel, but the Camel is much less stable than the D.II in extreme moves. Plus, if it was a scrap between us two player pilots and four AI pilots, you guys would definitely lose. Jasta 2 is one of the most elite squadrons in the game, and it is VERY hard to get into (I didn't sign up when creating a character to it, either. Started out with Jasta 34.). And we HAD Boelcke, Bohme, and Manfred von Richthofen.

Plus, I always change to the D.III when I get the chance. A D.III v. a Camel... that would be... interesting to say the least... we should totally duel come a good day.

Can you be transferred in a campaign between two squadrons in OFF? I know that the airfield changes sometimes, but can you actually be put in another squadron?

Your squadron can be moved to different places, but I've never been able to request a transfer, so I just edit game files.

That was one feature I liked in Red Barron 3D. When you reached the rank of Captain, you could start requesting transfers and I think that was the rank that allowed you to paint your aircraft.

The dance of death continues over Flanders...

Terry Algernon took this quick photo while flying his Sopwith Camel. Had to abandon the camera after this, things turned ugly up there, but he got himself a couple o' kills.

Hi guys. Great pics here  , had no idea this part of the forum existed (not that it's especially hard to find  ). ... What flight sims are pictured here? I don't know anything about them at all. I know the name IL2, I think it is, but that's about it.

Biggles 04-18-08 12:48 PM

Well the ones from me (WWI era) is from a mod called "Over Flanders Fields". The mod is based on the CFS3 engine. It used to be freeware, but they've taken it away now I hear, because phase 3 of the mod is payware, and the earlier versions of the mod is no longer on their website.

I find that very disturbing and annoying...:nope:

Dowly 04-18-08 01:35 PM

And most of the rest of the pics from WWII are from IL2 1946, the full complete pack of everything officially released to IL2. You can get it very cheap, 15-20€.

bert8for3 04-18-08 03:35 PM

Excellent, thanks. ... :hmm: ... tempted. I'd better check the domestic bliss counter, though, and see how my +/- points balance is doing

Looking at your speed and your altitude, I'd expect you would hit the ground very, very hard.

just curious, did the Japanese have parachutes? I'm not sure but I don't think they did. Does the Sim let you bail out with or without one?

Dowly 04-20-08 06:39 AM

You always have a chute when you bail out. Tho, since Pacific Fighters, you've been able to make so that the AI wont bail out. This was made so you can make the Japanese do Kamikaze strikes.

Biggles 04-20-08 07:24 AM

An interesting aspect with CFS2 and BoBII is that the chute may or may not work. So even if you get out of the plane, it doesn't mean that you'll live through the day.

Dowly 04-20-08 07:27 AM

You sure about BoBII? I usually end up bailing out on every sortie and it always has worked. ;)

GSpector 04-20-08 04:27 PM

well, I finally got the IL2 1946 (thanks to the comments and pics here) and have been flying it for about a month now.

Speaking of the parachutes, I was actually shooting at a bomber when suddenly crewmen started bailing out. While I was still shooting, I accidentally ;) shot a parachute and it collapsed :o . I can't remember the other Sim I used to fly where this could happen but I remember it was the 1st Sim to allow it because I remember all the Sim message boards I was on talking about it being right or wrong or whether it was ever really done in war. Turns out, it was done but only by very few in real life.
