What if the fascists tap into its computer... (or does it run on the peoples power)

Schroeder 11-25-09 10:04 AM

Wait, I thought the T800 was an Austrian model?
Is Hunter collaborating with the enemy? :hmm2:

BTW
I might not be there tonight. My graphics card fell bravely in a dogfight yesterday and I'm too stupid to install the new card (I guess Palit thought that no one needs instructions to do it properly and therefore didn't put any manual in the box...:timeout:).
Well, right now I'm sitting at my mothers PC and are waiting for my brother in law to come home to handle this (He is an IT guy). I bet there are plenty of wires and connectors missing which were not included as well of course....:damn:

Task Force 11-25-09 02:03 PM

Yea... Im waiting for the day I have my card go out...

BTW? What card is it?

Schroeder 11-25-09 02:24 PM

A Geforce gts 250 with 1GB RAM.
BTW it's official now, I won't be there tonight. We didn't manage to get that piece of *** to work. Who needs a manual anyway?
Tomorrow I'll throw my PC on the shop's counter and tell them to either install that thing for me or give me some instructions on how to do it myself.

Task Force 11-25-09 02:31 PM

so whats up with it... it just wont start of what?

what power supply do ya have? Did you uninstall the old GPUs stuff.

Im sure there is no difference to installing this card than any other...

Schroeder 11-25-09 02:41 PM

It seems there aren't enough wires in the box. It has two power in plugs but only one wire.:shifty:
The entire system simply won't start up. It just beeps which means it detected a problem with the graphics card and stops then. Maybe the power supply isn't strong enough too. I will see that tomorrow (and I bet those guys at the shop will sell me a shiney new power pack for 50+ € too.:damn:)

Task Force 11-25-09 02:44 PM

yep, power problem...

HunterICX 11-25-09 03:17 PM

talk about careless service...
back when I considered a small update on my older Pentium 4 I was talking about the 8800GT back then and they asked what Model Motherboard I had and the strenght of my PSU.

when I have issues I can't fix myself I just give them my PC and they fix it...it might take some while but it will be done right.

I'm afraid I still have to find a competent IT shop in my neighbourhood. The results of the two biggest shops here have not been very encouraging so far.:dead:

Task Force 11-25-09 03:26 PM

yep, same... Mainly so it cannot be blaimed on me...:yep:

Ha! Shows you the failure of the capitalist system, imperialist corporations robbing the workers of decent service.

Schroeder 11-26-09 05:39 PM

So I went to the shop today and was shocked:o:
1. The guys were friendly:o:o
2. They even solved the problem in about two minutes.:o:o:o
3. They didn't want any money except for the missing wire which I had to buy.:o:o:o:o

Yes there was a power wire with a special plug missing. It seems that modern power packs have a special set of plugs which is required for this card. Unfortunately mine didn't sport any of those but that could be solved by connecting my normal 5,25 plugs to some adaptors and everything worked fine.
Now, if a simple adaptor is enough to fix it why are there two different plug systems to begin with??? It's not like the one plug would do some crazy awesome thing which requires a special form or anything. Why didn't they stay with the traditional form and all the damn components get the same power plug??? I thought that principle of one plug for all was what let to the wide use of USB, right? So why different systems for power?
That's what I really hate about PCs. You only want to update one component and you end up with buying plenty of stuff to make it fit into your outdated computer.:damn:
