Sounds heard at periscope depth

With the periscope, you can clearly hear all the sounds: the wzz of the shells, the explosions as if you were outside - is it the effect of some mods, is it the game, in short, did some genius here manage to modify these bugs?

Hi Pascal,

as far as I remember, these sounds were in stock SH5 as well

Yes, the Sh.sdl file should be modified - the only audible sounds underwater should be torpedo explosions, deth-charge of course, but in no case tracer shells or ship sirens!

PS: personally, I removed all these sound files (Shell water explosion....wav) that made the game unrealistic, waiting for better ...

Is it better without these Shell sounds. Have you removed them all

I reduced the sound volume to zero, not removed it to avoid a possible crash to desktop

but frankly I don't understand that the players here, very concerned about realism, accept these noises perceived at periscope depth through the periscope (I don't mention of course the torpedo explosions or other strong explosion close to the sub that it is normal to hear)

I removed it and it is ok. Is the sound of the engine fading on the surface or getting quieter on the surface when changing the speed? Is it like in SH 3 and you can hear the gear change

The engine noise fades in several ways: when you move away from the engine compartment in the sub, and outside it is another sound file that works, and of course increases or decreases according to the speed

If you play Sh3 then you should compare with SH5. The sounds of the engines

Where is this file and do you need an application to edit it?
