When the supply "Ship/Milch Cow" is available you will see it on the map.
You must rendezvous with it. Be careful of collisions. Did you receive radio instructions to refit at the supply ship? It's been a long time but I do not remember them in the game in 1939 - 1941.

If you don't see it you may need to Save the Game exit the patrol and then reload the game.

Blackswan:
thank you sir. Now know where I am on the calendar. If it is any where near 14 Oct 1939 Scapa Flow will look inviting.

On my 17th war patrol I get ordered to AL 73...

Hi

On my 17th war patrol, and I have just been ordered to perform a patrol in Grid AL 73... Problem is there is no AL 73, only 71, 72, 74 and 75...

Is there something I am missing?

Best regards
Rokvam

Scapa Flow

A question: On 14 Oct 1939 Gunter Prein entered Scapa Flow and found the British fleet asleep. I am now at sea on patrol on 7 Oct 1939 in LSH20. If I get into Scapa Flow will I find any targets? That is: have any ships been programmed into the scenario for Scapa Flow on this date or has it been left empty by the programmers for program economy? The latter is understandable. I just don't want to waste fuel for nothing.

Scapa Flow

I entered Scapa Flow around this time in the war, and found a Batleship (don't recall the name), a Carrier and an auxiliary cruiser ripe for the taking.

So I think you will find something wo sink if you enter around this date...

Rokvan:
Thanks for the reply. Interesting. Adding up those three would make a spectacular event if one could get out again, as Prein did. Lots of tonnage there to collect. I would suspect the battleship would be the Royal Oak that still remains as a memorial to the sailors that died as she sank.
Have to think about the approach from the far eastern side. Probably much at night to avoid the air CAP available in 1939, but would depend on the weather.

Scapa Flow

Yes, night time approach is recommended... Aircraft can be a nuisance for sure.
Your batteries have a reasonable endurance though, and you should be able to dive some way away from your target, get in and get out, without saturating your atmosphere with Co2...

Viel Glück und gute Jagd

Best regards

rokvam: Please be advised AL73 indeed does not exist. It is believed by most that the game developer had a typo.

That being the case this is what I did.

I created my own patrol and when all of the torpedo's where used up I returned to port and I ended the patrol. My next "Official" patrol was for a location that actually did exist.

Have fun :Kaleun_Salute:

Rokvam:
I did deviate to Scapa Flow on my 7 Oct 1939 patrol. Terrible weather and low overcast so few worries about air attacks - ran surfaced most of the way. Threaded through Prein's northern route into the Bay. Sonar sweep revealed a huge number of ships, either anchored solo or in the dock. But...but...too much rain and fog to identify any of the contacts. I mean I could identify none of them. Besides there were very, very active surface patrols. So I left and went to my assigned patrol area to the east, AM37.
Prein was either nuts or superhumanly brilliant or amazingly lucky, or all three. I vote for the latter.
Thought I'd report, Mein Herr.
