LOL still not quite right but I'll give you that one :)

The location is at The Mill Dam and the monument is in honour of those who served in the merchant navy during the war :salute:

Well, it was within a meter of it. :O: A nice statue, and I do like the poem on it.

Anyway, what's this? Bonus points if you can give me the actual name. :salute:

Nope. :ping:

Bugga!

Is it a destroyer funnel though?

If so, it could be one of many in a flotilla.

Looks like a 3rd flotilla ship from the stripes. If it's not an I class, then it's not from that Flotilla. HMS Ilex was my first guess.

It is from 3rd Destroyer Flotilla. :yep:

Must be a Pre-war A class then. No idea what name but I'll punt with Acaster.

That picture is from 1943 and shows the Bjørkhaug and the surrounding area after the explosion in Algiers harbour but I'm not getting the intended clue.

Could post the list of all the A and I Class boats but that's not cricket so I'll go for the named vessel after Acasta and pick Achates.

Get the clue now? :03:

TarJak 05-26-14 05:21 AM

Algiers

Oberon 05-26-14 05:24 AM

Looking back, Tarjak wins this one. Having got the class of destroyer correct first. :salute: A bit wrong on the date, I believe the picture was taken in Jan 1941 when she was part of 3rd Destroyer Flotilla.

TarJak 05-26-14 05:33 AM

Alright, then where is this? City or closest population centre please.

Jimbuna 05-26-14 06:22 AM

Far too easy :)

HunterICX 05-26-14 06:24 AM

Hastings, happy now! :O:

Jimbuna 05-26-14 06:26 AM

Hastings aka battle of 1066

Oberon 05-26-14 06:27 AM

Goddammit, that's what I get for looking away for two minutes. I used to go to Hastings quite frequently and I've ridden on that railway. :O:
