The location is at The Mill Dam and the monument is in honour of those who served in the merchant navy during the war :salute: http://www.northumbria.info/Pages/milldam.html http://s29.postimg.org/m98n5x8fr/aaa.jpg Over to you matey :) |
Well, it was within a meter of it. :O: A nice statue, and I do like the poem on it.
Anyway, what's this? Bonus points if you can give me the actual name. :salute: http://i.imgur.com/NPGPrsN.jpg?1 |
I Class Destroyer, could be Imperial.

Bugga!
Is it a destroyer funnel though? If so, it could be one of many in a flotilla. |

Looks like a 3rd flotilla ship from the stripes. If it's not an I class, then it's not from that Flotilla. HMS Ilex was my first guess.

Must be a Pre-war A class then. No idea what name but I'll punt with Acaster.

Could post the list of all the A and I Class boats but that's not cricket so I'll go for the named vessel after Acasta and pick Achates. |

Looking back, Tarjak wins this one. Having got the class of destroyer correct first. :salute: A bit wrong on the date, I believe the picture was taken in Jan 1941 when she was part of 3rd Destroyer Flotilla.

Alright, then where is this? City or closest population centre please.

Goddammit, that's what I get for looking away for two minutes. I used to go to Hastings quite frequently and I've ridden on that railway. :O:
