Oh I missed that. Siri? I currently don't have an 4S (but the 4S totally rocks and is much better compared to the iPhone 4 than iPhone 4 was compared to the 3GS - it is a mobile performance monster) so I don't have any experience with Siri yet. It also depends on the Engine I am using, I doubt they will introduce support for any inputs through Siri soon...

Very good qoute right there. Wolves of the Atlantic looks like it's gonna be great.

Well count me as a buyer!

My 4s should be here in a week or so, and I'd love to have this to play.

I'm not sure how you are doing it, but were all familiar with the load times of sh3. Perhaps you could save resources by not loading the entire world at one time, but only applicable zones.

Eagerly waiting.....

The entire geo data of the world does not fit in the memory of the device. I use tiled data sets of ca. 50x50km each, so I will never have more than 150x150km in memory. Unless there are zones of special interest, the texture of a ship should need more memory than this.

I'm currently working on another simulation - a pacific air war flight sim for iOS & Mac OS X - to raise my budget for the development of WOTA which is currently zero :(
Flight Model and AI of this sim will be transfered to WOTA, also the japanese navy models.

Any chance of seeing this for Android?

It will be released on iOS first, then Mac OS X (which urgently needs a WWII submarine simulation) and then I can start with android... it's much more complicated to support all the different android devices but there is no reason why not. The Mac Version will have the same core functionality and will be identical from game play just with dramatically enhanced graphics. So the date for a possible android release will be really much later than iOS.

My iPad2 is drifting in the waves, waiting for a lone Uboat to rescue it:O:

Not much, had other jobs to do and still I'm working on the side project of WOTA which can be released faster and hopefully will generate some income for WOTA development. Some of its 3D models and scripts will make it into WOTA. A picture of the (visually unfinished!) current PC/Mac-build (iOS devices will have slightly less eye candy) - it's a flight sim "1942 Wildcats Over the Pacific".

Hi,

I am a Frenchy man and recently bought an Iphone 4 and was immediately searching for some games and especially a submarine game but rather a submarine simulation as I don't like arcade games. searching on the net for a submarine sim game I found yours in development and since i only hope to see soon the release and you can already consider me as a buyer. Your work is absolutely amazing and I really hope the gameplay will reach the level of graphism!!! It will be soon hunter time!:arrgh!:

Bravo

The flight sim has become a really serious project - so it is much more work than I've planned before.

This forces me to release something different for iOS within this year: A special preview version of WOTA with limited ships and only one submarine to play with: the Type XXVII Seehund midget submarine.

Announcing WOTA: Seehund Type XXVIIb

http://www.hessburg.com/pictures/ZZ20345ECA.jpg
(Video shows the current water running on the iPhone 3GS)

"WOTA: Seehund Type XXVIIb" will be the first release of the "WOTA: Wolves of the Atlantic" series.

It's about midget submarines only, so you can think about it as a kind of reduced version of the final WOTA subsim - to increase development speed it will offer less types of enemy ships and because it's about midgets it will use a portion of the map limited to the historical area of operations and range of the Seehund.

Postings about "WOTA: Seehund Type XXVIIb" starts at page #5 of this thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...=163753&page=5

You want to help me to finish the project(s)?:

Just spread the word! And/or join the facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/#!/WOTA.Wolves.of.the.Atlantic

If you are a modder: Your (own) ship models are welcome! :D I'm a (broke) one man show and any good ships will help me to finish the games faster. (later I'll implement a modding interface for at least the desktop versions of the final WOTA subsim)

Now to answer the most important question: WHEN?
The plan is to submit it to Apple in late december / early january. Which means you possibly won't see that many types of ships in the initial release of the midget subsim.

I've added a WOTA page on google+

Wow...I keep looking at that YouTube vid and I have to remind myself it's not on a PC ... Great work!

Thanks, I'm trying to squeeze out any bit of performance out of the first ARM7 devices.
