Problem: Torpedo Tube Doors close automaticly

Hi!

I don't know if this is a stock, a GWX or a OLC issue. But I guess Stock or GWX

My Problem:
as soon as I switch the tube the doors close automaticly which is very annoying if I want to attack mulitple targets or do multible shots on one target.

E.g. : I open all doors (either viat selecting all or via the weapons station) - go to the UZO or attack scop and select one tube... all others close.... :damn:

Any idea?

I think the only way to keep more than one outer door open, is to use the 'salvo' option on the tdc.

That's actually wrong. There is one option.
First one has to make the right settings for the different torpedos: slow, fast etc. Second one has to choose which tube to attack with first. Normally it's one of the forward tubes.
Then one goes to the central station and right-click the 1WO, this way one can click on the torpedo tubes to open them all manually and keep them opened untill all fired. There is only one aber-dabei. One has to shoot, choose next tubes correctly. If one regrets, skip second and chooses the third without firing the second, then all except the third will close.
This has worked for me since I started playing SH3 March 2005, before any mods came out.

First you need a "go back to previous camera position" alteration from attack scope to coning tower periscope view in command_en.cfg. Now in coning tower periscope view, look down and there is the manual door switches, switch on desired tubes. Go into attack scope view by clicking scope and fire. You can go back to coning tower view by the asigned key shortcut. There is a way to put this to the mouse button (spare one) by using Xmouse. Have not tried multi single shots, but I think it might work.

will try your advices...

the one with firing in a certain set order I have tried already... but it is really important as you state it to keep the order and not to "jump"

and it is really DOH! that this is a stock problem....

Hi!

If you are planning to launch multiple torpedoes against one target, then you might selecting the "salvo" option rather than launching a series of single torpedoes since the "salvo" option will open all the tubes designated for that salvo and keep them open until the entire salvo of torpedoes has been launched.

You can flip the switches and open the doors yourself from three different places:

1) By right-clicking the Weapons Officer and doing it at his station.

2) Standing in the conning tower. Look around, you'll see them.

3) Sitting on the seat of the attack 'scope. Look down, they're there.

Just open them all/switch between them from the F6 station (select each and hit Q), annoyingly they will automaticly close if you switch between them using the periscope/UZO views.

I generally open all tubes before the attack using F6 station, then fire them in numeric order 1-2-3-4 etc using "Y" to switch to the next tube.

In the attach map, click the tube you want open then press "Q", now wait for about 5 seconds then repeat for the next, doesn't work from scope.:up:

can you tell me how to assign a function to a mouse button in the commands.cfg? there is no way to do so in setkeys.exe

Hi Jaeger
Theres 2 setups you can use in command.cfg.

1/ Direct shortcut
In setkeys give "Conning tower periscope" a key shortcut

OR....

2/ Goback (see old thread at bottom)
In setkeys give "Go back to prev cam" a key shortcut

In this command

[Cmd16]
Name=Periscope_camera
Ctxt=1
MnID=0x3F020003
Key0=0x72,,"F3"
Page=0x26000000,3702
GoBack=Conning_tower_camera

Change to.....

[Cmd16]
Name=Periscope_camera
Ctxt=1
MnID=0x3F020003
Key0=0x72,,"F3"
Page=0x26000000,3702
GoBack=Conning_tower_periscope

The advantage with the goback is you can add more commands easily and have many new gobacks with the same mouse button. ie UZO to conning tower or Captains log to Command room.

3/ Finally download xmouse (just google xmouse)
This supports 5 buttons on your mouse. You can assign buttons to keystroke.
Change spare button to your key in xmouse.

Now when you press that mouse button, it is the same as pressing the key.

p.s.
It was some time ago that I used option 2. I remember this was the only way to make it work correctly. Other ways had problems like double jumps. There's an old thread here

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=126046

Hope that helps

If you've stil got a spare mouse button assign it to "NUM del" key with xmouse.
Now in 3D mode you can switch off the GUI with the mouse button instead of the key and have a realitic view. Handy if you play in a darken room, haven't got to find the key.

big thanks to you, runs fine now. :up:
