Panzer Elite info?

So I pulled out my dusty old copy of Panzer Elite and gave serious thought to giving it a go. I have a laptop now with a built in Graphics card so T-34 vs Tiger or Steel fury is out of the question.

So the last time I played Panzer Elite was pre mods of any sort.

Has the mods changed this sim much?

Ostpak worth it?

Any others you would recomend?

Or would it be wise to just put it back into the closet??

Sledgehammer427 03-02-11 09:49 PM

just look up PE3

ITS TOTALLY WORTH IT!

realistic ballistics, new tanks, better looking gfx, so on. its worth playing, esp on a laptop.

So I loaded the old girl and with compatibility set she fired right up.

I downloaded and installed the mods with JGME and the game crashes anytime I try to go into any real time action although the menu's still work.

Any Idea's?

Sledgehammer427 03-03-11 01:38 AM

when does it crash?
before anything?

my game crashed when I tried using the arrow keys. I remapped them and it works like a charm now

It loads fine, Choose quick mission, choose tank click play and it pops up a windows failed to run program error. Click okay and im back in the game at the post mission stats menu.

Sledgehammer427 03-03-11 01:49 AM

thats odd.

Freiwillige 03-03-11 02:47 AM

PEDG

Freiwllige do you have the Ostpak installed and enabled with PE3?Because there re not compatible. What you need now to play with PE3 are scenarios 2009 and 2010 they combine all the former Ostpak and Desert missions in 2 separate mods that you enable after PE3 in your JSGME.What seems to be happening si thta you are missing mission files which why your games loads only the menus and briefs and not the mission.PE3 can be a bitch.I had the same problem at some time. Can't remember how I solved it though.

The bets spot to go for help with PE is the PEDG forum solely dedicated to PE where all the fans and modders meet to discuss mods and solve problems. Look for BritAldo44 he is very helpful and knows PE like the palm of his hands. Here s the link:

Luck!

I only have PE3 downloaded and installed. PE3 has Ostpak in it as well as MvR and Britpack 44 all using the PE-X engine.

As you can tell I've done my homework!

I spent hours last night trying different advices on forums, different compatibility modes, downloading DirX 9c, changing every executable to compatibility mode etc, No Joy.

Stock works wunderbar! Any Mod and my CD becomes a drink holder!

Stock the game is less than ideal, So I appreciate your help and I will keep plugging away at it but from what I understand Vista is probably the issue.

Sledgehammer427 03-03-11 01:36 PM

try downloading the scenarios packs as well

The following mods are separate and require being enabled after Panzer Elite Three in the mod enabler:

Scenario2009 includes all 49 Ostpak East front scenarios
http://ostpak.chollie.co.uk/Scenarios2009PE3.exe
154 mb (Updated December 23 2010)

This adds 39 west front scenarios from the Monty vs Rommel/ Torch, Brit44 and Ostpak mod:
http://ostpak.chollie.co.uk/Scenarios2010PE3.exe
70 mb (Updated December 23 2010)
the links in the quote do work, heres the original post

Okay so here is my list of failure thus far.

DirX9c installed
DirectX7 installed

Stock game works perfectly!

Patched to Ver 1.2 latest official patch

Test Stock game works Perfectly!

PE3 installed Game crash (GameProject has stopped working)

Installed missions in correct order
PE3
2009 missions
2010 missions

Result Same as soon as I go to the 3d battlefield the screen flashes a few times and i get the (Game project has stopped working) windows error.

Downloaded and tried PE-x latest version, Error code "tried to access memory at ef2376bblah blah memory at 0000000000 could not be read"

Crash!:damn:

Freiwillige 03-03-11 05:00 PM

Also I set every executable in the game folder to compatibility for xp and 98

with the disable desktop composition and run as administrator selected.

Sledgehammer427 03-03-11 05:39 PM

Thats really weird, it must be a vista thing.

Freiwillige 03-03-11 06:31 PM

PE3 uses PE-x in it and on the PEDG PE-X group forum it says they wont support Vista!

So I assume that the old ostpak etc will work but wont have the modern physics and time of flight because that is all PE-x mods doing.

So I will hack away some more but I have a feeling I have come full circle with this.

Thanks for the help though guys.
