always Tambor offered in TMO

Hi! I play SH4 with TM 2.5+RSRDC V506 +Traveller mod 2.6 and every time I am offered a new command i recive only the tambor class submarine
I tried to fix the problem with the small patch for TMO but it seems to have no effects...
I have already done two campaigns with Gato class, and each time only the Tambor is offered...
i do not understand where there is the problem :k_confused:
this is the list of mods that I have activated
1_TriggerMaru_Overhaul_2-5
1_TMO_25_small_patch
RSRDC_TMO_V502
RSRDC_V5xx_Patch1
Traveller Mod v2.6 TMO
TMO_Aft_deckguns
PE4 Torpedo Wake for TMO_2.5
Traveller Mod 2.6 Automatic Ship ID
Traveller Mod 2.6 Harder Enemy AI Escorts
Traveller Mod 2.6 No DC Camera Shake
Traveller Alternate Loading Screen 1
AI_ShinshuMaru

After you make alterations, you often have to empty the Save folder to clear the old data. That said though, the "small_patch" is the Terrible Tambor fix, which RSRDC also fixes, so no further work is needed on the mod for that. One thing to remember about the subs in the game is that they all have an "UpgradeClass=" setting in the SubName.upc file, which controls the upgrade "rating" of the various subs. Some are "zero", such as the S-Class. Some boats have the same number as other classes, such as the Tambor and Gar are the same, which is one reason you do not get a new command in the Gar. Same with Salmon & Sargo.

So,the best solution for this problem is to change manually "UpgradeClass="setting?
If yes,how?

jumping in here as PB is probably busy....

there is a folder at Data\Submarine that contains separate folders for each subclass. in each sub folder there is a UPC file for the submarine. use a text editor like Notepad, which comes with every Windows operating system, to edit that UPC file.

firstly, you can make these changes in Data\Submarine or you can create your own Mod folder for these changes. i recommend the latter technique but it is your choice.

Use Notepad to open the UPC file.
very early in the file text there is a line:
UpgradeClass=4

you can change the numeric value to whatever you choose as long as it is an integer.
for example, i am playing GFO at the moment. Here are the UpgradeClass values:

S-class boats - 0
Porpoise - 1
Salmon & Sargo - 2
Tambor & Gar - 3
Gato - 4
Balao - 5

it is probably best if you inspect each class' UPC and make your installation compliant with how you want the upgrades to proceed. for example, if you want to play both Salmon and Sargo then make those two different and consecutive values. same for Tambor and Gar. and, yes, you can use any numeric value as long as it is an integer.

go ahead and dig into it and see what you find.
good luck!

one thing I did not understand
do i have to disable all mods first and then work on the game folder?

I'd imagine that would be the best approach...

no. not if you create your own MOD folder and apply it after your current set of mods. here is an example.
Generic Mod Enabler - v2.6.0.157
[C:\Ubisoft\GFO\MODS]

101 GFO_Game Fixes Only Mod v1.1
140 Webster's New Orders Bar Menu for v1.5
180 MaxOptics IV for GFO 1.1
300 Stop The Shouting
400 Screen Scroll Fix
420 - 3000 Meter Bearing Tool (1920x)
900 mtb GFO
in this installation, i am playing the Game Fixes Only (GFO) mod set.
the very last MOD is where i have all of my tweeks.
so for you, it would something like: TMO\MODS\900 My TMO Mod\data\Submarine\NSS_Balao and so on for each submarine. when you finish this prep work, your new mod folder will look like this:

https://i.ibb.co/gPcV8Q0/Picture0087.jpg

....although you will not need the Uboat folders.

go and copy the UPC files into your new mods folders, edit each and save, then apply your new mod with all of the UPC changes using JSGME.

does this make sense?
