Hello from a new guy

I'm new to Subsim and just wanted to say Hi. I'm an old Air Force vet but love subs. I was trained by, worked with and was great friends with a real German UBoat Kaptain Udo Behrens. The stories he told me got me interested as he used to train the new Sub officers. Looking forward to downloads and sharing stories. Gute Jag.

welcome aboard!

JC1958! Must have been his(Udo Behrens) time aboard
U-845, not his tenure aboard U-17. Udo Behrens survived the war and died in 1995 after becoming a minister.

U-845 was ordered in January 1941 from DeSchiMAG AG Weser in Bremen under the yard number 1051. Her keel was laid down on 20 June 1942. The U-boat was launched the following year on 18 January 1943. she was commissioned into service under the command of Kapitänleutnant Udo Behrens (Crew 30) in 4th U-boat Flotilla on 1 May 1943.

He, my guy, worked at Rhein Main AFB housing area heat plant. I wasn't aware of his ministry, perhaps I have the wrong guy. We called him Mr. B. More like, Herr Beh. He didn't like Udo I guess. I was good friends with him at the plant but dropped most of my connections when I went back to the states. He had a deep knowledge of Uboats. We had a smaller diesel motor from a Uboat, 3 cylinder, we started when power failed to run a circ pump. Have been trying to get in touch with friends and family or coworkers but most have passed. Any ideas?
