Favorite IL-2 Craft

Just a topic about what is yalls favorite aircraft in IL-2. I like the Spit 25 and the FW-190 1944. Of course there is the Me-262..................

I like flying the bombers. The Betty is nice to fly, same with the B-25 and HE-111 but my favorite would be the A-20. A nice medium bomber that one. You can handle her nice and she takes a pounding.

I love multiplayer in these things. I do my best to drop my payload and make it back to base but normally I get so shot up the best thing I can do is crash land. I've managed to do that with only one engine and no elevator control. All I could really do was strafe and use my flaps to correct my pitch on landing. Using the flaps was great as I had to keep throttling up to bring her nose up but I made it alive!

Lot's of fun those bombers.

I love the 190.

I-153 M64:

Decent speed, very good agility and very nice rapid machine guns to kill pilots

BF109F4:

Very fast, good armament, very stable in diving.

SpitFireVIII:

Fast, turns really fast and is very stable good armament

FW190A5:

Good speed, not very agile thought but I mainly use it to take down bombers as the armament on the FW190 is very destructive.

BF110:

Good speed, not very agile, the acceleration speed is not really satisfying but once in the air on good cruising speed its terror for slow moving targets like IL2's and medium bombers. also a very good groundpounder. also a very stable.

B25:

Good speed, good defences by MG's on most angles
can carry a very good load out. and she can take a pounding and still make it back to base

JU88:

Strong engines, speed is good. Like that you can use it as a dive bomber as well. the defences are something to worry about when you fly without escorts. the load out it can carry is very good.

 thats my list

:hmm:

Probably the Spit, Hurricane, He-162, the 262 is nice but tends to catch fire on me a lot, there's a couple of others that I can't remember the name of at the moment.

Well I like the little p40b, ''dunno'' what it is about it i seem to favour it when i go for an offline dogfight ;)

panzer 49th 08-01-07 09:26 AM

I like the Spitfire and the Yak-3.

Dowly 08-01-07 09:49 AM

Spit VIII. Apart from the toyplane I-153, Hunter & bunch have no changes against me. :p

@Panzer

You might want to scale down that sig of yours, IIRC, the size limit is 230 x 140 or something like that. Oh and welcome aboard!

CaptainChunk 08-01-07 10:13 AM

For me its the P40, P38 and the Hurricane.

CCIP 08-01-07 10:37 AM

I must be one of those oddballs whose favorite IL-2 plane has always been the IL-2 itself :p

And I recall that wars were fought with stick and stones back then too. :p :rotfl:

Favourite? The Arado Ar-234 Blitz!
The Cockpit is great and these Periscope-aimed MG151s in the rear are really nice.

Sir Big Jugs 08-03-07 10:18 AM

Hmm... I like the KI-84, 109 (later versions), I-185, & Hurricane to some extent. Depends on the map, but those are my faves. The Spit and Zero are a bit too manouvrable for me, and the FW-190 is too stiff...:cool:

Dowly 08-03-07 11:15 AM

Now how can plane be TOO maneuverable!?
