New player- mouse issue?

So after playing every version of Silent Hunter 3 for a decade... I've finally got a new sub game.

My fathers day gift was this Uboat game.
I'm very excited.

Of course I had to buy a new graphics card and power supply to run it.
So the $30 investment is now $200+.

The game is installed fine, and has the latest B122 patch. The update installed even before I had began to play.

ANYHOW... I'm loading up the Tutorial and find that although the mouse can rotate my view 360 degrees... I can not move, and no curser is displayed on the screen like I see on the Youtube videos.

So I can not select anything. I cant do anything.

So I'm stuck.

Any ideas? Be nice.....

I don't have U-Boat, but there are a growing number of players here who are rapidly gaining experience. There should be someone along shortly who has the answers you need.

Meanwhile, welcome to SubSim! :sunny:

Oh, and we always try to "be nice". We're here to help, not hinder. Or else we're not here long. Unless you wander into the General Topics forums. Then all bets are off.

Are you running the latest driver for your video card?

pentico1999 07-01-19 03:50 PM

So I am running an older i5 processor on a motherboard that only supports 8Gb of memory. The video card is Radeon AXRX 570 with the latest driver.

OK... I loaded up in the normal game mode, and the curser is present... and functional. I move and perform tasks.

However, not knowing "how" to play without the tutorial is difficult.

I'm also noticing video lag, even in "good" graphics settings.
Perhaps a new motherboard with a better processor and more memory is in order?

U-boat is a graphics hog! So yeah you’re going to need a decent graphics card, and board. Im Running an FX 8350 that’s overclocked and has an RX 580 card, and the GPU is still a little slow.

I have rx580 as well, and it works fine. I think that your CPU is problem.
This game pulls almost 400W from my comp :P

I want to stick with Windows 7.... so I ordered an ASRock B150 board with an Intel i7 6700K processor and 16Mb of DDR4 RAM. Couple that with my RX570.... it BETTER WORK!

Still no curser in tutorial mode......

pentico1999 07-07-19 07:51 PM

OK I did a work around and managed to complete the tutorial without a consistent curser. Man its going to take me a long time to figure out how to play this game well. But so far.... I like it.

In first person mode there is only a small white dot. The outside or side view mode has a mouse pointer hope this helps.

Yes... knowing where and when to look for the curser does help.

And apparently the tutorial bug has vanished.

Now I'm on the very steep learning curve to actually play.
