Akula 03-29-12 05:15 AM

I posted this in another thread, but perhaps it is better suited here.

I am trying to register as a new user at the panzersim forum to apply for access to the MMP 7.0 mod.

I have the requested photo of ownership if the disk with today's date and the forum username I wanted to register, but all for naught.

Anyone here a member over there that can help out will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
G

Hi, is there anyway to have these skins in the default single player game? I'm tired of playing with the "Brick" skin.

charon2112 05-17-12 10:45 AM

Are people still actively playing the MMP mod...? I've got a copy of tvst coming soon and I was hoping to get into MMP.

I feel like I may have hit the tank sim scene late. :(

Beta Test Request

I realize I am particularly late, but if anyone was still lurking with the authorization to give me a beta test download, I would truly appreciate it.

If that was still going on, I mean.

I live in Australia.

MMP Project Abandoned

Sorry Dr Abdul but you are at least one year late. The MMP project has been abandoned since August 2012.Murkz made the announcement that the team had decided to drop it since nobody was playing that sim and they were working on other projects I44 for Arma 2 .....

Here's the message from Murkz posted on his own forum:http://panzersim.forumotion.com/t394-mmp

With T34 vs Tiger not having any work on it for 6 months and the fact that we are all really enjoying beta testing the new I44 beta build, MMP development has come to an end. It has been a great ride and we have met and made many new friends along the way.

For us as a team, we are still together and are doing all we can, from a tanking aspect to help I44 become as good a tank simulation as possible.

So good luck to all, our forum will remain and we hope to see you all playing i44 on its upcoming patch release.

Until then, thank you for your support and best wishes for the future.

I have dusted it off and started to Mod it again

Hi

Not sure if there is gonna be much interest, I have started to convert the German single play mission in to MP Co-op missions.

I have got one scenario working so far and you can fight as the German side against the Russians.

I'll keep plodding away at it, I also plan to to update the the Editor manual and release the model manual I wrote but never published.

Hi Thanks

Been involved with TvT since it was being developed by the Russian devs originally.

As with all Tank Sims, like Panzer Elite, Steel Fury, M1TankPlatoon (etc I could go on) TvT was pushed out before it was finished. The original game had not even reached a stable beta platform when it was released. The problem is us tankies are a very small bunch and if we do not do it ourselves it wont get done.

The upshot was, it was full of bugs did not work, myself and a few other PanzerUnity fellows took it upon ourselves to stabilise it and improve it for MMP 7 which we did and we released it. (in memory of Monkwarrior)

After a long spell I have dusted it off again and started modding it again.

Just doing it for the fun of it, the driving physics are nearly spot on, the engine has a few bugs like random tree placement across clients in MP and no occlusion, which I am steadily working on in the back ground.

Other shortfalls we should all be aware of is that TvT is only coded for 32 bit technology. If we could get the source code we could upgrade it. but the source code is lost in Russia somewhere, I tried to get it but got nowhere.

So there we have a a stillborn tank sim that only has some of the elements us hard core tankies like. Mp is what I like and have turned my limited coding skills to improving the experience in TVT and expanding it where I can.

I do have knowledge of how tank models work in the engine and are more than happy to the share the knowledge, so feel free to ask and I will share all that I have.

All the best VAseMkiii

just reminder for you children of the 80's

this is where tank sims began

enjoy :woot:

Played this similar one in on a ZX spectrum in the mid-80s - 'Rommel's Revenge' - loved 'YOU HAVE BEEN ZAPPED!'

Anyway good luck with the project, tho multiplayer is not for me. The exceptionally poor AI, complete lack of platoon command or interaction and the small mission sets, mean I just dabble in T34 -v- Tiger and concentrate on SF+STA or even PE+PE3 or +PP2x. Still as you say, T34 -v- Tiger is technically very good at simulating the operation of an individual tank and it certainly represents important crew drills like target indication rather nicely....

http://combatace.com/uploads/monthly...1399585883.jpg

...much better than SF's strange (Soviet?) compass bearing system, which the devs improved considerably in SABOW.

VAsemkii 08-12-16 03:45 PM

The problem is that the dudes that run SABOW and Kharkov 1942 are more interested in adding horse and carts than adding MP.

Mp adds the human element of impracticability that Sp can never add.

Unless of course you do not like or can accept having you arris handed to you by someone else on a plate. Its all just games thats all :woot:

TvT MMP7 Mod

Hello VAsemkii, I have the MMP7 mod which Murkz graciously offered to me about a couple of years ago after the whole team pulled the plug on the project. I have it installed and dabbled with it for 45 minutes. Undeniably it's great work the new sounds and camos are really good. Unfortunately as LIme33 very well said the AI is catastrophic, the game engine not very well optimized and very few people- except those willing to pay Zeewolf's steep fees - are interested in that game. Steel Fury was never meant to be multiplayer and Graviteam staunchly resisted any efforts to make it into an MP game arguing, probably rightly, that they just didn't have the resources to sustain MP which is very demanding for a small team of at most 8 people. Yes TvT is more immersive tank-sim wise than Steel Fury and has large maps but on every other score it's just way behind the times.

I'll be following your progress and I wouldn't mind trying the SP missions into co-op style. As a member of the fantastic group of modders who created MM5, 6 and 7 my hat's off to you!

Re having your ass handed to you by humans. Sometimes the AI can give it to you straight or even too much i.e Arma 2 with its all seeing and never-missing-a-shot AI. Even in Steel Fury I have been badly surprised by the AI outmanoeuvring me on many occasions.MP is fun I play BF3,BF 4 and Red Orchestra 2 MP but the communities can be toxic and many of the players are immature idiots or jerks... Arma 3 's community is a bit better though....

Cheers!

VAsemkii 08-13-16 02:03 AM

Hi Frinik I have to agree the AI is utterly awful in TvT and the game engine was never optimised. They effectively released a Beta.

Steel Fury could have been so much more if they had spent the time on it too and added MP which is inbuilt in the engine they use.

But I will keep plodding away at it and see where we get, Tanking is a very small fraternity, (WOT not included in that statement I mean real tank sims) so it does not attract large crowds, which thankfully keeps the communities small and generally friendly.

ZeeWolf 08-13-16 11:42 AM

TvT is good but could be great

Hi guys, :)
TVT AI "Catastrophic" and "utterly awful" not true. The truth is, although
the code for AI is lacking for now, highly sophisticated code could easily
be written as a class (in JAVA). It is not hard coded in the "Game Engine"
However, this would take time and effort from those who know how to
do it. :yep:

As far as "just behind the times" :o OK! But you miss what the original
developers were able to accomplish that made T-34 vs Tiger stay on
the radar screen today. :ping:
This simple observation back in 2008 is what enabled Project ZeeWolf to exist.

As for steep fees how about this: Since 2008 my rent has gone up almost
70%

So basically what I would like to say here, I am NO Mother Teressa nor
would I expect those who would produce something with hard work and
dedication to be either.

-Zeewolf :salute:

Pulstar 04-19-20 01:11 PM

Reinstalled TvT recently, wasn't even aware of the MMP mod, and Zee's site seems to be down too.

Is there a working link for MMP 7.1? Thanks.

Mundane 09-13-22 01:30 PM

I'm quite stunned by the fact that the mod has cleared out of existence by its creator(s) for these 12 years. I've had the TvT game since I was a little kid and still play it to this day, because the game's mechanics and the nostalgia still pins me to the floor. Anyways, I've always wanted to know what multiplayer matches would of felt like. Course the game's MP doesn't work, so I went divvying on the internet and came across this thread. Naturally, I got excited to want to know more about this MMP mod, but sadly was dishearted when I tried to access the site that contains the homepage of the mod, discovering it wouldn't work.

Has anything new or has happened since the last time Zeewolf posted his last message? This is just a question I hope will be answered in the 'near' future.
