Learn morse

Hi all,

Here is a great tool for learning morse:

Good for the new radio!

Morse code is easy to learn, that's not the hard part. The hard part is using it so routinely that you can keep your speed of correctly interpreting morse, or manually signalling with it, up at a sensible rate. This is a skill which is very intolerant of lack of recent and repeated practice, "use it or lose it basically".

As we aren't trained signallers, you're always going to have to adopt the rate suitable for the least capable operator on the net in game, which means glacially slow!

I learnt morse with that tool in a couple of hours. I know how to type it, but I need to practise listening now.

Learning the dits and dahs for the letters can be done in an hour or two for sure. But turning that into a usefull skill takes many more hours of practice, as I'm finding out one hour at a time :). I've found this app quite usefull: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ment.morsecode

Yes, it's harder when you are listening to it, because you must not think how long are the tones you are listening. I just learn the basic characters but I'm not ready to talk using morse code yet.

I found a good app for morse ear training (free, without ads):
