Destroyer Command Problem Question

When using time compression in Destroyer Command Pacific Mission 2, I find that the Oil Tanker being escorted spontaneously incurs damage and eventually sinks. No attacks, collisions or other problems are shown.
1. Has anyone else experienced this?
2. Is there any legitimate cause for this?
3. Is there any way to rewrite the software to bypass a campaign mission?

I seem to remember an issue with an DC "oil "mission scenario , maybe this is the problem. A patch was unloaded to the destroyer command " Legacy"downloads on subsim.
Look for the fix halfway down this page:

Not the problem

Hi!
Thanks! However, the issue to which you refer has to do with the Oil Scenario crashing upon start. That, indeed is repaired by this link, but it does not solve the problem to which I refer.

sorry that didn't help. I dont recall another problem with that particular mission. I do remember that a jap sub is submerged and positioned at ambush, and is Not moving so your destroyer 's sensors will not pick him up initially untill he launches his torps. But your crew may not see these if your not near the tanker thus You may not know what hit the tanker. However, the result summary screen will indicate.

No Indication of Result in Summary

The result summary did NOT show that the Tanker had been sunk by torpedo. Since the mission is a "success" if only the destroyer gets through, I was able to go on to the next mission in the campaign. In another of the Pacific Campaign's missions, a destroyer is lost, again for no apparent reason. Perhaps the same type of ambush you mention? I have also experienced engine problems on a destroyer. Though it only had to reduce speed temporarily, that could also be an explanation for loss if the engine problem is not repairable. Though I have suffered some crashes when saving the game while enemies are nearby, for the most part I have been able to play the Pacific Campaign, and am about halfway through it. Thanks for your help!
