No, it was not "built". As mentioned before it is a fictional ship in a film (see post). I would have to google if this fictional ship was mentioned to be built by the "Nordseewerke" in the film, but not afaik.

so the ship was completely computer generated? In the TV series "The Love Boat" for example, the show's ship was an actual vessel, built by Nordseewerke. It was eventually broken up in Turkey. Your photo looks like a real vessel.:hmmm:

Not in the eighties as they would have used a filming model for that level of detail shown in the photo.

I'm not coming up with any actual ocean liners used for films that have that apparent bridge structure, but filming models of large ships almost always find a bad end so I'm at "sea".

Gojira?

Jimbuna 11-21-20 06:09 AM

Not a real vessel, and not computer generated as far as i know, all models, film tricks and such. But the vessel has a name, in the film. I do not know if there ever was a real ship with that name but i do not think so.

@Buddahaid: The level of detail of that ship is not too high, or lets say only partially, some scenes. It represents an ocean liner with a bridge and all that belongs to it alright.
Not from Gojira.

@Jim: Film was shot in the 80ies, yes.

If anyone quotes the last sentence in the film, i would also declare him to be the winner. But getting the name of the ship is easier i think :D

But you will hate me.

This has me intrigued :hmmm:

Maybe a hint is in order :hmmm:

The story takes place during WW1.

Aktungbby 11-21-20 12:30 PM

Lusitania?

Catfish 11-21-20 12:43 PM

Not the "Lusitania", the ship in the film (as the whole story) is purely fictional, and so is the ship's name.

Aktungbby 11-21-20 12:50 PM

American film production?

Buddahaid 11-21-20 12:51 PM

Is the movie Moonzund?

Jimbuna 11-21-20 01:00 PM

As good a guess as any. I've absolutely no idea.

Buddahaid 11-21-20 01:01 PM

I have another idea but have to wait.

Catfish 11-21-20 01:11 PM

@Aktungbby: Not an american production

@Buddahaid: Not "Moonzund", but this film seems to be interesting :hmmm:

Buddahaid 11-21-20 01:14 PM

Now I'm thinking the movie Gallipoli. Last line something like "Run like a leopard...."
