Grumman Avenger asw role

On my current patrol, I've been attacked by a pair twice in the middle of the night, August 1942. Far as I know they never had Leigh lights. The lights were not small.
Did planes attack at night via radar alone ? Seems it would be hard to get a visual without a light and the only radar/night action I know of for Avengers was in an anti-plane role in the Pacific.
Or am I mistaken ?

Lights are not modeled on the plane on the game, but that may not be possible in the game anyway, don't know.

Yeah, saw that thanks. I couldn't find that model ever having been used in the North Atlantic though.

You find anything ? I enjoy learning such info.

Thanks, though I can't read the second Russian print link, I didn't notice any mention of the light carrying model doing any night attacks in the Atlantic in the first link.

Maybe I missed something.
