Transparent Deck Watch

Anyone ever have their deck watch look transparent?
It only happens when I am on the bridge and I look at one of the crew.

Its only the part that is "higher" than the horizon. In other words, when the boat sways and the crewmembers head dips below the horizon in the background they are solid. When above its transparent like a ghost.

I'm thinking its a graphics thing I cant change, but who know, maybe its something I can tweak.
Anyone see this before?

That happens to me too. Its pretty weird, though I dont know how to fix it. I just assumed it was so we could see that part of the horizon or something

Known SH4 graphical bug.
Idem you can see lighthouse lights through your crew, sun through sub part etc...
Deactivating volumetric fog helps.

... isn't that part of "caustics" also? the interaction of light with objects?... :salute:

It's a known bug and as far as I know it can't be completely fixed, only improved by regulating the transparency. Not too long ago I found out that SH3 has the same bug, all though a bit less obvious. I was in the submarine bunker in Brest at night and I saw the harbor lights through the concrete.

Ethernal problem with SH4.

Deactivate sun glare in graphics options. This is a solution, but you lose the sun glare....

Also, as told, volumetric fog off helps.

Good hunt.

Thanks everyone for the confirmations.
I'll stop obsessing over it.

Depending on your graphic card, you might be able to reduce it considerably in its control panel, or by un-clicking the settings in the middle column of the SH4 game Graphic Settings screen, though you do lose most the "pretty" stuff in the game doing that...
