Installing Mods on Steam Version
 

Yes, I was stupid enough to get the Steam version of Silent Hunter 5.

This forces games to load up via Ubisoft which is a separate application that Steam.

So, is there anyway to install mods with the Steam Version because when I try installing JSGME onto SH5, I direct the path into steamapps/common/Silent Hunter 5. However, when I load mods with JSGME, they never show up ingame.


When I install mods on the Steam version of Silent Hunter 3 via JSGME, it works just fine.

So, is there a way for installing mods for Steam's SH5 so the game is playable. :o

How were you able to install the mods on the steam version? Currently trying to but having a nightmare...

Installing mod with the steam version is just the same as the nonsteam.
Only the dir location is different.

So far only one mod will not work with the steam game. TDWs exe patcher

You can install any individual mod with the Steam download.
What you cannot do is use TDW's Generic File Patcher.

You install mods the same way as usual, its just that JSGME is installed into another path...

Just for my understanding (I already went through the process): A patched .exe, is this essential? Because 1000s of things have been fixed/enhanced by a patched sh5.exe? E.g. I read the hydrophone is practically unusable in the stock sh5.exe

That is why it is essential to be able to install TDW's Generic File Patcher application as it eliminates many of the stock bugs and allows you options that can be made to your game.
Without this application the game is unplayable.

Just for those that may be wishing to change from Steam......iNetVideo has had the DVD version of SH5 for the past year for less than a download version.

$6.99 plus shipping, isn't too bad of a price to pay for not having the headaches that Steam comes with. Ships from the UbiSoft Canadian Headquarters in Montreal. Got mine within 4 days time of order.
