I may have accidentally deleted it - I will scour my hard drive for it this evening (if it's lost, I will try to whip up another. It's fun to experiment with particles!)

Finally! Was cruising on an early January 1942 Arctic patrol and spotted these for the first time (after playing SH3 since it was released :O: ).

At one point the waves were white-capped at full thundering winds; great way to feel cooler during a hot summer's day!

...Also a good way to really fudge up your bow when you ram into one with 200m forward visibility during a foggy night...

I hope you have better luck than Captain Smith!:D

timmy41 06-18-10 12:43 AM

wow viper! what skin is that?

ViperU48 06-18-10 01:35 AM

That would be Fubar's VIIC Winter skin, just found it last month and it's great! Thanks to Jimbuna (kudos btw Jim) for collecting all of Fubar's "lost skins" and archiving them. You can find it in Jimbuna's thread here: http://174.123.69.202/~subsimc/radioroom/showthread.php?t=167015

I believe it's in the VIIC skin pack pt.2 .

For my personal setup, I edited the NSS_Uboat7c.cfg file (stormconditions = 2) so that the crew will wear their rain-gear even in the calmest seas to simulate an f'ing cold day (thought it was weird seeing the crew in summer clothes on a frozen ice boat). So all i do now is throw on this hybrid 'winter-mod' when i know it should be freezing outside. Highly recommend a nice frozen arctic patrol! :arrgh!:

PS: I hope you don't mind me asking, but do you play WWII Online? I could have sworn I was just fighting along side a Timmy41.. :)

@ ViperU48: Thanks for this. So, how exactly do I change the storm conditions (the original reads: "StormConditions=7,0.1;max wind speed [m/s], max rain intensity [0,1]")?

Thanks, Kapitän

ViperU48 06-18-10 03:46 AM

Hey Kapitän,

In your case, you only need to change the 7 in "StormConditions=7" to a smaller number, while leaving everything else unchanged. That number is the wind speed at which "rough water" mode turns on, meaning you can't use your guns and the crew puts on their rain gear (the lack of gun use could simulate a frozen/inoperable deck gun or aa gun). Be sure to make a backup of the file in case you are not making it as a mod for the mod enabler.

I havn't tried a value of zero but i'm sure it should still work. Mine is set to 2.

Hope that helps, and happy hunting!

Kapitän 06-18-10 05:26 AM

@ ViperU48: Thanks for the info. I will give it a try and let you know how it works.

Iced skins do look 'different/special' IMO.

Hi, I also made the changes of the storm conditions as described above, on a WAC4.1 installation but when I now start the game on a Single Mission, it shows me that the Radio Antenna is destroyed and/or both Periscopes (???) :06:
