Wolfpack - Does single player exist?

I have not purchased Wolfpack yet as I am only interested in single player. Have there been changes that allow a single player to control an entire sub? I would be interested in playing against other players but not really interested in the coop aspect. Thank you.

It has been possible to operate the Uboat from release on day one, last year in march. In the beginning you had to run from station to station to operate controls. This switching of attention to each station does take a bit of a toll on how well you manage your command. It's easy to make mistakes or forget to do things. With the recent addition of bot-crew you have them as extensions of your person to control those functions. They are a proxy. You control them through an overlay interface in your personal view. (they also appear as 3d crew vacating the spot whenever a player comes near) This video gives a good representation of how you control them:

It's a personal choice of course. But it does make it better to have other players focus on their particular station in the boat (you are totally free to be flexible and change responsibilities among yourselves at will) and collectively perform better then the sum of it's parts. It does however place more emphasis on cooperation and trying to maintain order in what quickly can end up in a chaotic bunch of people.

One cannot see the settings in a lobby before joining.

It is true that none of the chosen options are shown when selecting a lobby to join. Only that it is locked through a password by a lock-symbol.

The host enables the option to use bots. If PurpleCow wishes to play all by himself he will have to open a lobby for himself with that option. If he wants to operate a Uboat by himself in the lobby started by another host then he will have to request that to the lobby-host.

If you want to play the 'tutorial' (really just training) scenario then the option to use bots should be set under the skirmish mission settings first. Then change over to the tutorial mission and launch that.

Thanks for all the information. The video was especially helpful. I think it would be worth the purchase. If I did just want to play solo are there single player missions or is it all online multiplayer?

Currently the 2 options are to play the '3 impervious merchants'-training scenario or the 'skirmish' random escorted convoy. The video linked shows the options you can change for the skirmish mission. There was a Scapa Flow mission in the works but the developers will go for a mission editor first now I believe. There is no difference between multiplay versus singleplay. Only the fact that you have to do/command everything yourself versus having a bunch of helping hands. (or another 3 uboats)

p.s. I don't know if this changed in version .21 yet, but previously a network connection was required to start a lobby. Even as a sole player.

You can solo with or without the bots no problem. Once you know how all the systems work, it's only a matter of practice.
