Were these in Sh series?

Just wondering if the 'length' toggle on TDC was in the U-boat TDC in SH series for salvos. Also the radio directionfinder - i always wondered what the big ring on the bridge in the game was but dont ever remember getting radio direction info.

What is the enigma for in the game? Is it for MP - are there multiple uboats in these games?

Just spent a few hours sailing around making a mess of finding the convoy - its hard when you're by yourself but just trying it out and playing with a friend tomorrow. Finally found the convoy and realised how little I can do with TDC. Great game though - beautiful too. Is there an external cam?

Also - my UZO has no stad marks/graduations - is it not suppose to?

Where is the voicepipe? Ive read about it and closing it for diving - does it only show when you are playing with other humans?

In WP, the target length determines the angle spread of the salvo. This afternoon playing solo, I actually got to see this for the first time working, shot at a passenger ship, and got hits bow, center mass, and stern, really cool.

You can fill multiple boats in a lobby and all attack as a wolfpack, communicating via radio as in RL.

We’ve got a regular group going with Neal weekly, keep an eye on the WP League thread as I’ll be setting something up for next week. Happy to connect with you otherwise too and show you the ropes. Add me on Steam (same name as here).

None in real device either. The one we have looks just like the real one, except the real one had an illumination adjustment for the line (hope this is added). Range was eyeballed but usually irrelevant since they shot at low gyro angles on surface.

No functionality there AFAIK in game.

Friend me on Steam, I'll help you find that convoy.

Was there really no way to enter the spread angle directly like in the SH games?

Pisces 04-06-19 09:56 PM

The salvo spread is directly proportional to the ship length. So you could change the spread with that until the desired angle is shown.

Shiplength has no other purpose on the TDC as far as I know.

In the Silent Hunter games, there were times when i had to take a snap shot at a fast moving task force that i did not have time to get accurate information about. I would just set up a wide (several degrees) shotgun type spread and fire it in their direction with an estimated speed, range, and AOB.

Doesn't seem to be a way to get a wide spread in Wolfpack if you are limited to the length of a single ship.

Pisces 04-06-19 10:49 PM

The max length setting, a hypothetical ship of 250 meters, at 4 km still measures up to about 3.6 degrees. Ofcourse, narrower if the AOB is anything other than 90 degrees.

But then you can also pull down the range dial a bit to blow it up further. It's not like you were expecting targeting accuracy, right? Salvo dial goes all the way to 20 degrees (which is the halve angle)

Thanks for the replies and offers for MP - was really just a general query, i do not remember that 'length' button being on the TDC, that was all. You could set the spread angle but that was it and was just curious. Same for the radi direction finder - i remember the turning disk on uboat models in all of the series but never remember radio bearings showing anywhere - could have come in handy..

Many uboats in MP - that is cool, i met a friend last night and we did 2 hours MP, first time we dove, i showed him a few things, surfaced and was busy explaining how noisy the compressor was going to be when two loud bangs and we were sunk. Im raging too - as if had just taken that chance to show him how to use the scope we would have spotted the escort waiting up there. Loaded again and of course no enemy to be seen and had gotten late by then and so had to quit.

Its a great game - really stable too, runs well - no bugs i've noticed so far:Kaleun_Cheers:
