[TEC] JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME) User Guide

Click here to view online the latest version of the JSGME User Guide.

The JSGME User Guide includes information on topics such as:

Installation
Adding mods
Enabling mods
Disabling mods
How JSGME works
Navigating the interface
Tasks
Languages
Notes for modders
Notes for developers

This will be the User Guide's permanent online home, so linking to it elsewhere (ie on other forums) will be fine.

JSGME v2.4 will link direct to this file when the "Help" option is selected.

FYI I was hoping to have this finished by now, but alas, I haven't. In 12 hours or so I'll be out of the country for the next two weeks (and forcing myself to stay offline), so I'll get back to it when I return.

Hopefully at least the main aspect, ie installation, is clear.

Thanks JScones.

I've enjoyed using your excellent tool before with SHIV.

Indeed I don't think I'd be using the mods I am if it were not for your most helpful application!! Well done Sir. :salute:

If anyone can't understand the instructions, or seeks clarification/elaboration, then pls post here so that the User Guide can become more useful (pls just bear in mind that the empty sections are still a WIP).

Pls note, however, that it is NOT a "Computer Basics 101" tutorial, so pls do not ask how to d/l files, unzip files, open Windows Explorer, create/edit shortcuts, explain UAC etc etc because a) Windows comes with a Help file that answers a lot of these kinds of questions and b) I simply don't have the patience or time.

My aim here is to provide a succinct User Guide for the use of JSGME, so knowledge of basic computer operations is assumed.

Mayhap I'll make a Complete Idiots Guide for this too....although I keep having to edit mine for the goblin editor, owing to my misunderstanding of the adjective complete.
Great job on the guide, and the enabler, been using it since sh3.:salute:

assistance por favor...

I'd like to have a separate install of JSGME for SHV. I already have one full of mods and enabled for SHIII GWX and don't want to mess with something that isn't broken. As it is, I will probably have to roll back my video driver for SHIII to work properly and that's time consuming enough when I don't get copious amounts of time to play anyways. Sooooo if someone would be kind enough to give me the JSGME step by step for dummies that would be cool followed by pointing me to the list of best mods to try first. I mostly want to have a functional echolot for starters. I tried adding a line in the .cfg file and followed all the instructions but alas it made the game unplayable and I had to re-install......back to version 1.1 for now until I see a reply. Ahoy.......

JScones 03-27-10 12:54 AM

Erm, read the "Installation" section in the first post in this thread.

And pls, this is a thread about using JSGME, not about providing advice on the best mods to get or how to edit files. There are plenty of other more relevant threads for asking those questions.
