Screen Resolution fix for Windows 7

Is there? I use 1680 x 1050...

I use the res fix mod and that appears to work for me..

Also if you have an Nvidia card I recomend useing 'Nhancer' app to bump up the graphics

16xAA and 16XAF for me :)

Thanks. it says that this is for Xp SP2....does it work on windows 7?

Dissaray 03-13-10 07:17 PM

Windows 7 has the ability to run programs in compatiblity modes. Just right click the exacutable for the agme and click the compatiblity mode tab. You may have to check the box that says to run it in a compatiblity mode first and then select the windows xp service pack two mode and everything should work just fine.

That said, I don't use that mod my self so I don't know what will hapen exactly.

My game rig is currently running WIN7 Pro 64 and I'm able to use the "XP SP2" ResFIX just fine! No need to use "Compatability Mode" - She's running smooth as silk at 1440x900

jason210 03-14-10 04:40 AM

cool...any chance of a screenshot?

YukonJack_AK 03-14-10 05:26 AM

Actually I'd love too... but for some damn reason CTRL-F11 isn't working to take a screenie (probably a MOD that I installed) and I just tried FRAPS and that's just causing CTD's... So I don't have a clue at the moment :damn:

kabex 03-14-10 05:46 AM

By the way, that fix doesn't work for me no matter what.

Windows 7 64bit, ati radeon 4730... it launches and I get a "loading icon" for infinite time, I have to run task manager and kill the process, no image at all just black screen.

YukonJack_AK 03-14-10 06:22 AM

Nevermind - I finally got FRAPS to take a couple of pictures (still can't get CTRL-F11 to work though :damn: )

Anyways here's a couple of screenies at 1440x900 with 2xAA and 2xAF :D

5) While there, add your desired screeshot path to the line below (please note this mod disables the Ctrl + F11 function, you must use PrtScr):

Yeah - Realize that now...:damn: Anyone know why hitting PrtScr to take a screenie would cause SH3 to CTD?

Panser 03-14-10 03:30 PM

I have the same issue with PrtScn crashing the game while using the resfix too.

Ctrl-F11 works, but it can also sometimes crash the game for me.

Darkbluesky 03-24-10 05:22 PM

Mmmm... I have Win7 64 bits and the fix for high res doesn't work at all, when I launch the game I get a black screen for 1 second, come back to desktop in 1024x768 with an error of APPCRASH. When hitting Ok in the error window it simply changes back to the desktop resolution and leave me in desktop wondering why it works for others...

Any idea? It is a real pity, specially knowing that it should work. I have tried to run it at 1680x1050, 1280x1024, even a custom 1400x1050. No success.

BTW, I test it in SH3+1.4b+GWX3, nothing more :dead:

Thanks for any idea!

EDIT: SH3 works perfectly with stqndqrd resolution in my Win7 64, no need for run as admin or compatibility mode. Nevertheless I have tested that witht he HiRes and does not work neither.
