Gee Otto, could that be the Enterprise (CV-6), you're taking off from or another Yorktown Class Carrier.

It looks more like the Saratoga. Note the end of an R and an A just forward of the Hellcat's port wing root.. She always had SARA painted on her after flightdeck to identify her. The Lexington had LEX. Other carriers I believe just had their registry number fore and aft.

And if that's taking off then the next shot is stalling before falling back and dying on the flight deck.

I should know.

Lovely shot, as always, Otto.

As Hawk said, it is the Saratoga

Saratoga (CV-3), a very good ship indeed. Awards 7 Battle Stars during WW2 and survived (barely), kamakazi hits.

Now resting at Bikini Atoll. Shame, as of 2008, diving down to it is no longer available to scuba divers.

I think your coordinates were just a tad bit off on the runway.:rotfl2:

Nah, looked like every one of my 'spot on' landings - although it is missing the flames.

Got a yoke today, will try it tonight.

Edit: I've just double checked the original and there are steps and ladders going up to the door of the lighthouse.
