My own standard tactics.

Hey everyone!

I have made few new changes whenever it comes to being on SH4. I have come up with new standard methods when approaching a Jap merchant besides p-scop depth as well as being within a few thousands yards of the enemy. I always put myself as close to 90 degrees of the target's course as possible for the best possible result. Now when it comes to torps, I will fire as soon as that fat Jap comes at the bearing between 20 and 340 degrees to get the best mark. As soon as I am in enemy waters and if my radar picks up something at a certain bearing, long range, I will know the target's course an stay almost parellel to that course and make an interception without being spotted if I'm too close to be attacked. I would definitely say that I turned to get close to 90 degree angle of the enemy's course and mark the target spot and draw a line and measure the distance from the bow tip of my sub to that line. And as soon as I get to within about 2,000 yards or so, I will get to periscope depth and wait for sound contact thru sonar/hydrophone. And ask the sonar crew to track the position by way of bearing. And as soon as the Jap gets within the 340-20 degree vicinity after I pulled up my pscope, I will definitely fire my torps at it as long as they're properly set. And immediately after that I pulled down my scope to avoid being spotted. I would definitely have my setting at AUTO TDC instead of manual tdc. Auto Torpedo Data Computer is the best. On SH4, be careful not to select manual targeting and aiming or any realism. I rather have my setting to zero realism and easy mode. When it comes to dealing with Imperial Japanese Convoy, either small, medium/regular, or even large, or Task Force either large or any size, I will have to be extra and super careful when approaching and be at pscope depth. That is exactly why I choose to use course plotting method instead of fooling with the compass; manual rudder and turning. For speed I use maximum/flank speed. But when it comes to dealing with convoys and task forces, I will make a silent running at minimum/lowest speed possible; one third. Then as soon as I get to within 2,000 yards or closer to a nearby escort, I will do all stop. I depeneded upon sonar. As soon as any lead ship hits zero bearing, I will pull up my scope and search for any capital or big ship and choose it. When it gets to the 340-20 interval I will fire a salvo at low speed setting. And immediately pull down my scope. And set my time clock. The only way I know that torps hit is through sonar. And if any Jap ship's propellers went silent and/or if the sonar picks up any explosions after the hits, I would confirm a sinking. And that would be a score on my log. As long as that target is recognized through pscope view/optics, it would be on the log. So as my setting is at zero realism, for any Jap ship I do sink I will receive a quarter of tonnage for renown. So the more and more renown I get, I will be offered special rewards. So everyone! HAPPY HUNTING!!!

Welcome to the boat mate :salute:

Sounds like you have a good plan for playing our little game.
Nice thing about SH4 is you can play the way that suites you best.

I do believe you also get the prize for the longest user name.:up::up:

Good luck and good hunting.
