Free Cam Tweak

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1554

Features:
-Reduces "clip" distance (allows free cam to get closer to the subs and ships)
-Removes terrain clipping (allows camera to travel through buildings/coastlines)

Now available in two versions - one with a narrow (45) FOV as above, and one with the default SHV (75) FOV.

A very quick-and-dirty tweak, with credit to skwasjer for his silent3ditor tool. Just hoping to save people a little time and digging around files, and help them make nice screenies :)

Well, now I have two SH5 mods, and may not even get to play it for a few months.
:rotfl2:

Thanks Charlie Charlie India Papa.

So S3D still works? Probably not on all files though... I must warn everybody to not assume S3D is safe to use on any file it 'seems to open'. I cannot confirm the entire file structure is the same, I expect it not to be for several reasons.

But if it works after testing your mod, well then, lucky you! :D

:yeah:

[edit] Just noticed, two controllers in your file have their definition changed it seems, as they can no longer be parsed. Ah the fun begins... let's hope not too many controllers have changed :O:

Your efforts are truly appreciated but could you release the mod without messing with the FOV?

Yep, S3D works in principle on the same old file formats. However some new controllers have been introduced and there seems to be a whole new file format (which I suspect comes out of their use of Granny3D). However old .sim/.dat/.cam files are still very much openable.

Will update the tweak shortly, but if anyone wants to do it for themselves - S3D is your friend here :yep:

Sry doesnīt work for me...

Canīt get the whole external camera to work. F2 doesnīt work. Donīt know why but it seems that SH5 doesnīt backup the realism panel.

mod without FOV messing plz

CCIP 03-05-10 03:01 PM

Sorry for the delay guys - updated. You may now choose two versions of the file (in the same zip) - one with narrow FOV, one with SHV default.

Thanks CCIP, definitely a download for me now.

There is a chance of clipping-related glitches with the regular-sized version it seems. So be cautioned about that for now - I will play around with it more and try to get this fixed soon.

The following might ofc not be related to this mod, but I wanted to mention that I saw the following issue when using this mod:

Night time, the moon located somewhat above the horizon. Looking directly at the moon made it vanish, but the moon reappeared when moving the camera to either side, so that the moon is seen almost at either outermost side of the camera.

Nice, I like the new FOV.
