Silent Hunter 5 just stopped working (help please...)

Hello,

<TWoS 2.2.9 in use>

I have some problems with SH5 and ****ty U-play application too, i guess. Today U-play decides to install new files in my SH5 folder, for example uplay32.dll, uplay_r1_loader.dll. This crap also installed new .NET Framework 3.5 (I don't know why). I guess that is the reason that now I can't play the game. Game opens normally, but when i want to load save, enter museum or play single mission i have crash to desktop. Last time (2 or 3 days ago) everything worked fine.

I was in the middle of 1941 and i don't want to reinstall game or something because I will lose everything I did and what I achieved.

It is absurd how average user of legal copy of the game must be aware what "great" developers like UBI is doing at the moment.

Your saved games are in C:\Documents\SH5

Uninstalling your game will not affect your saved games unless you choose to do so.
As a belt and braces job make a copy of your SH5 folder and paste it to a different place.
Now if by some chance your SH5 folder disappears and a new one appears with nothing in it when you re-install just copy and paste your backup over it.

These are game launcher files not Silent Hunter 5 game files.

What is the installation path of your Ubisoft Game Launcher?

Installation path of UBI Game Launcher:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher

Hi T
Your game launcher shows correctly in the default path.
I cannot understand how those files got into your games path.
The obvious question therefor is what is your Silent Hunter 5 game path?

Path to Silent Hunter 5:
D:\Silent Hunter 5

I really don't know what is going on with this "update".

Hi Tomek
The 2 files that you mention in post 1, check if you can see these files in your Game Launcher folder.
If they are not in there cut and paste them from your Silent Hunter 5 folder into the Game Launcher folder and see if the game loads.

NET Framework 3.5
Check that you have Network 4.0 installed in Microsoft update history.

It didn't work, but thank you very much for your help. I decided to reinstall SH5, install TWoS 2.2.16 and start from 1939. I have just blocked Uplay (i didn't know that i can do that through TDW File Editor) and nothing will break my game and career.

In that case, automatic campaign transfers won't work for you but this can be resolved by my " Campaign Progress - Workaround"...https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/sho...d.php?t=222403 Ingame campaign/flotilla transfer messages will further tell you what to do.

I had to do this always when campaign ended, because automatic transfer have never worked in my case, but thanks for information.
