Wrong sinking time, bug?

Hi sailors,

The captains log after mission always shows wrong sinking time.(v1.5)
Is this a bug?

Do you have mods activated?

One aspect of what you are seeing, is the Save "time" of the game. Another is that the game counts in several different ways, depending upon where you are in the game's structure. With one method, the game starts counting at "zero", and another, it starts counting at "one" (two different programmers working on two different parts of the game's code). Plus, the game does not understand "days" as such, but rather as 1440 minutes, aka: 86,400 seconds, aka: an exorbitantly high number of computer "clock" ticks - or mili-seconds, determined by the cpu "clock" cycle... It also does not understand what a February 29 or April 31, June 31, September 31 or November 31 are... but they are in the "dating" system that was written by the human programmers for the computer to follow... the later in the game, the further off the game's "day" count is... I don't know if I'd call it a "bug", or just poor quality control... :salute:

Thx for quick answer.

Ok.

It says:

Patrol start Dec 10 14:00

Unit destroyed Dec 10 14:00
(Ship 1 sunk 27 dec 16:44)
Unit destroyed Dec 10 14:00
(Ship 2 sunk 28 Dec 04:23)

Patrol end Jan 14 07:29 ( correct date)

I would like to know

Does it show in your career history( cap log) the correct date?

Thx

Has anyone the same problem

The game does miss sinkings, and the log seems to get confused between what I call the "header", which is the "Unit destroyed Dec 10 14:00" line in your example (the patrol start), and the actual data, which is the information within the parenthesis. The log sometimes seems to "miss" logging all of the ships destroyed also, which seems to make the rest of the list incorrect... As I mentioned also, if you have a "short" month of 28 or 30 days, the log can get "out-of-sync" even further. It can be strange stuff. You could think of it as a "fog of war", or missed communications over the radio, or a failure of Ultra to verify what you sank. In actuality, the game loses track of its data for various reasons. There is no way to "fix" this. All we can do is minimize it. Errors can be introduced innocently by the user, the same as the game can introduce them. SH4 is an old Windows XP DirectX v9.0c game, and does its "housekeeping" differently from what it gets from the 'modern' Windows. :salute:
