Just take plenty of distance to line up. But yeah, definetly not the most light or nimble plane around.

Maybe practice coordinated turns with the rudder (stepping on the ball), to a point where you use the rudder intuitively. Definetly something you want to use during take-off and landings to keep the aircraft lined up.

*hmm yeah, and what the "greatest artist ever" said.

Hey, did you ever see a more detailed and realistic drawing of an Il2 than the ones I've just provided.
And look at the detail of the runway!
People simply don't appreciate art anymore.:nope:

Arclight 06-30-10 10:58 AM

Well, I would acknowledge your greatness if it would not result in me facing the business end of a Mosin. As things stand though, that's all yer getting. :O:

Schroeder 06-30-10 11:05 AM

See it from the positive side. You could become a martyr for true art.:yeah:

Geno_Mariner 06-30-10 11:11 AM

Thanks Schroeder  Will give it a try.

Was just giving a few planes a go, some made me go 'wtf is that?' (the planes near the bottom of the list are very odd, I couldn't take off with one  Which ended in a very interesting crash.

Honestly, how could I take off with a plane who goes mental on the ground like a fish out of the water (dunno what happened to the image :s )

The Me 163 is a rocket powered fighter. It's a pretty special thing to handle. It even jettisons it's undercarriage after taking off and lands on a sleigh.:D

Oberon 06-30-10 11:27 AM

Argh...the Komet...that thing was more dangerous to its pilots than the enemy... :damn:

And hark at you Schroeder:

I could not keep the Me straight enough for a take off, since the jet made it wobble and turn quickly :-?

Schroeder 06-30-10 12:31 PM

That is called "pilot induced oscillation".:know:
The Me has no torque or prop-wash that would throw it off of it's heading (it's a rocket not a piston engine).;)
It will only very slightly move to the right on take off.
You probably wanted to counter-steer prop-wash when there wasn't any.

(Don't worry, I made that mistake in real life when I couldn't keep my glider straight and always tried to correct my heading with the rudder until my instructor asked me what I was actually trying to do. I then replied that I was trying really hard to keep the nose pointing at my desired direction. "Well, just take your feet off the rudder pedals for a moment" was his reply....the moment I got out of the pedals that damn glider was flying straight....:damn:. All the strange movements it did before were caused by me and when I tried to correct them it just became worse.:damn:)

Geno_Mariner 06-30-10 12:39 PM

Interesting  Dunno if I'd try the plane again for a while :hmmm:
Just currently getting HSFX downloaded (I wish I had that done the other day Oberon linked me the files :shifty: was hoping to join tonight's flight). Is there any other things I need? Doubt I'll be able to join tonight, my 4.0 HSFX will not finish before the flight :damn:

HunterICX 06-30-10 12:47 PM

Geno,

IL2 1946 installation updated to 4.09m and modified with the HSFX mod 4.11 + hotfix and the ''The 352nd Virtual Fighter Group'' Cross Channel Map.

:salute:

HunterICX

Geno_Mariner 06-30-10 12:58 PM

4.09m was done days ago ;) As for the HSFX, must I really download the 4.0 version first? :o Will take me a while. And I got confused with hotfix... (sorry, had been having some cruddy sleep the last few nights).

Schroeder 06-30-10 01:29 PM

Isn't it around 4:30 am where you are.:o

Raptor1 06-30-10 01:35 PM

4.0 is required, unfortunately quite big but pretty worth it compared to the old stock or AAA's Unified Installer.

I think half the people who installed HSFX after the latest version came out confused 4.11 with the hotfix. It goes like so: 4.0 -> 4.1 -> 4.11 -> Hotfix.

And don't listen to Schroeder, he can't possibly be the greatest artist in the world because I am the the greatest artist in the world! :O:

Yes... it is. Long story with the whole late nighters, but in the end I do actually sleep. Tried working back my sleep time slowly but it's jumped back to 5am sleep time. Ugh. Don't think I'll be able to fly with y'all tonight anyway, 4.0 is still running its torrent and I'm yet to get the map thing, and the 4.11 and hotfix. However I should just be ready for the next

Lol I'm an artist too :sunny:
