What DOESN'T The Wolves of Steel fix for SH5?

Hi all,

As you might know the Steam sale is on so I've been thinking about rounding out my Silent Hunter collection and getting SH5.

From what I've seen, The Wolves of Steel mod is pretty much the go-to for playing SH5 in 2020, so I'll be looking at that. As I understand it it adds back in a lot of the realism and gameplay we're used to from SH3 and 4, as well as fixing a lot of the stock bugs.

Over the years I've read all the horror stories about SH5 vanilla, the bugs, the CTD's etc. I know that TWOS fixes a lot of these but I've seen plenty of people saying that a lot of vanilla bugs remain.

In the interests of making a proper informed decision before I hit 'buy' (it's only a few quid but I'm a tight arse!), what vanilla bugs still exist that TWOS wasn't able to fix? Are they game breaking or just the minor annoyances we're all used to from this series?

Also is TWOS generally stable? Does it fix most of the CTD's?

SH5 is quite complicated sim so don't expect 100% bug-free ride, but TWoS is generally stable, few recurring issues that can't be fixed are well documented in TWoS manual and vdr1981 provides hell of a lot better technical support than Ubisoft ever did in case you report a bug. You shouldn't run into any game-breaking issues on your way to glorious surrender in May 1945 :)

Make sure you follow the installation instructions to the letter, most of reported bugs with TWoS can be tracked to mistakes during installation process.

SH5 with TWOS is quite stable. Just remember to save one time while in bunker and then reloading before asking for mission assignment, and I also save often while on patrol and avoid too high TC.
