BSOD's on Steel Fury, and nothing else

i have been having this problem ever since I got the game, i would play it, and, up until yesterday, it would randomly bsod.
Keep in mind, my PC meets recommended requirements, barely, so i have mine set to the midrange gfx setting
in the russian campaign, it would be when i look down a hill at a bunch of infantry it would bluescreen.
german, i was looking at a village from about 700 meters and scanning the houses (3 were on fire) for enemy tanks/infantry when it would bsod
strangely, this does NOT happen on any other game, my stability testers are
Far Cry
IL2:1946
ArmA
Call of Duty, UO and 2
as well as a bunch of others

perhaps it it because my game is not built to run a game sold in europe (which i think is absurd but anything is possible)
my gfx drivers (ATI Radeon X1600:rock: ) are all current, and the game runs relatively smoothly (infantry and a few random spots make it kinda choppy)

it bluescreens with a stop code of 0x8E

Sledgehammer427... You might want to ask this question over at the Panzer Sim web site for a better answer: http://www.panzersim.com/forums/index.php

Does you ATI control panel have a " let 3D application decide" option? If it does you might want to try that.

And one other question... have you used the patches that are available for Steel Fury?

Here are some links for patches and mods if you haven't.

Tanksim.org.ru site:

http://translate.google.com/translate?sourceid=navclient&hl=en&u=http%3a%2f%2f tanksim.org.ru%2f

Lighthouse Interactive:

http://www.lighthouse-interactive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=2043

I started with a fresh install of SF and then in order installed the following patches from the Tanksim.org.ru site. I'm also running the new version of JSGME for SF.

Unofficial_patch_SF-v0.1_eng

Steel_Sound_Mod_v1.1(fix)_eng

Steel_Panzer_Mod_v1.2_eng

Hope you find the problem.

PS... I ran across this thread at the SimHQ site that could help you out: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2644659.html

Seems that other ATI users are having problems also with SF... I'm running EVGA 2x 7800GTX KO's and just had to lower my setting a bit as I only have a single FX-57 CPU.

Sledgehammer427 02-09-09 05:47 PM

i am going to try the ATI tray tools on the SimHq page

stabiz 02-09-09 07:35 PM

I think you will find that warez are more than frowned upon here.:stare:

Btw, the SF runs great on my ATI HD4870.

Sledgehammer427 02-09-09 09:59 PM

well, im glad to hear im doing something wrong:O:

the HD series are far better than the Radeon X series

Task Force 02-09-09 10:02 PM

Are you useing AA or AF? SF dosent support ither of those, thats why I couldnt play the demo.

Sledgehammer427 02-09-09 10:47 PM

AA is as off as it could be, i did my homework, and i know to keep it off, I even turned off the AF in the game, im getting more memory so i should have a faster game (and perhaps my suspiicions about unmatched RAM can be absolved) but i figured out that usually it hapens in the german campaign, ( i get shoddy fps there so i stay away anywho) and at any other time when there is a buttload of data streaming thru my video, but it stopped BSODing, now, it just restarts itself...as in the whole PC

Sledgehammer,

take this as a friendly but determined first and last warning. After having collected the information I previously did not have on torrents, and discussing it with staff, I tell you never to mention or discuss software again that appears to have been gained illegally.

I got the word from the Penthouse that the "next time" it will not mean just brigg time, but banishment.

Please play by the rules. It is subsim.com's policy not to allow piracy-propagating discussions on it's boards. That is a zero-tolerance policy, and not negotiable.

Tanks!
The management
