Sopwith Camel & Fokker DR.1 Coming to Rise of Flight

With the 1.008 patch, they'll be automatically added to the game. Their website store will then have them up for purchase. The patch is due out sometime next month.

So you don't pay for them if you have the game and you get the patch? WTF would you pay for them then? Or do you have to add the patch then buy them?

You get them with the patch, but they're only available for the AI. Then you can go to their website and purchase them, which then unlocks the plane so you can use it at your own leisure.

Which means some enterprising chap will unlock them for free.

Yeh, maybe so. :hmmm: It didnt take long from the ETW community to open the special units that you had to get the special edition to play with. Same deal, the units were in the normal edition also, but they werent activated if you didnt have the special edition.

yep, and there was an old mod (the mod that adds courntys) that opens part of the native expansion it seems...

That's quite impossible. The account you use for the game also ties into the website. You buy the planes from there, the staff manually authenticates your purchase on the website, and they unlock them for you and allow you to fly- which then notes in their main website files that you've got access to such-and-such planes. They have to manually authenticate and unlock it, that's the keypoint here; otherwise, the file permissions are not unlocked so you cannot access the plane. If you tried modifying the core game's files to unlock them, their authentication process would detect it, send the data back to their site, and then lock you out of your account. Or the patching process would simply kick in and automatically delete the file and patch you back to the most recent version released.

The only hypothetical way you could "unlock" them is if you hacked their website and files somehow then manually unlocked the aircraft for yourself. But Neoqb's detection system would note an illegal access attempt long before you got anywhere near. They'd probably just ban your IP and account and report you to someone higher up.

This is why you do not see any working versions of it available from torrent and warez sites. Because although you can download the basegame files, you cannot do anything else with it. You have no authentication keycode that you email to them so they can activate your game, no account on their website, nothing.

Looks wonderful. Hadn't played it for awhile but I started it up today and noticed they've added the Sopwith Dolphin! Quite a surprise really. I'm very tempted to buy it!

Well I say nothing is impossible. Especially with a friendly Russian hacker.

It is only a matter of time till someone works their way round the copy protection system.

Sorry SH, but *laughs at SH's face*. :)

If it's made by man, it can be cracked by man. The only reason for it not being cracked yet is it's rather unpopular genre. Be it some new hot-shot FPS it would've been cracked in matter of days. :yep:

You can't. Like I was saying, the beauty and sophistication of this system is that it's not totally electronic anymore. That was always the problem with other protection systems. The majority of the process is done by people working at Neoqb, not bots or machines. They have to activate it and add the data into their servers, the planes and stuff have to be validated by both Neoqb and the credit card company provided (perhaps I should have mentioned that earlier, but whatever), etc. It's a manual process now.:salute:

Actually, it's been released as warez already. The problem is nobody can access the main menu and play. Because of the current protection system. They have no key to validate it with, no way to buy planes, no accounts on Neoqb's website. So they're basically left with ~4,000 MB of worthless files for it.:haha: But I won't go any deeper into that matter.

Yes, it is released on "some" sites, but I was referring to it not being cracked yet and I said already why it hasnt been cracked yet.

And like I said already, even that kind of CP can be cracked. The activation key is stored somewhere in your PC or atleast the command that tells your game it's activated. So are the commands that tell your game to validate itself via the website. All those can be changed/fooled. :yep:

Stealth Hunter 10-29-09 04:19 PM

But you have to confirm the CD key by sending the email to Neoqb, then they have their staff check it and sort through a key list. If it's invalid or not on there, they won't confirm it for you. Plus you have no account to run it anyway, stemming directly from their website. The files now are not stored on the computer or in the registry, just the graphics, sounds, missions, etc., all the things that make it a game. The validation stuff and CD keys are all done online manually. That's the problem for pirates, and that's the beauty of the new system.

XabbaRus 10-29-09 04:24 PM

Hmm 3DS MAX did a similar thing. You had to get an authorisation code from the developer to unlock it bnut before that you had to e-mail in a validation code....

hmmm now that was hacked....

Anyway enough of hacking, we'll get in to trouble. Looks good must admit, but still won't buy the game.
