I forgot why I stopped playing.

It's the aircraft. 5-6 times a day is just too much.

TMO w/RSRD.

Is there ANYTHING that can be done to stop the spam?

Well, Bruce, a step in the right direction would be to not be detected, esp by fishing boats, etc. and it is also wise to not engage aircraft. Submerge, wait an hour and resurface.

Any time you are detected and there are air bases within range, aircraft will patrol.

If you have already followed this method then send me a PM and I can build a fix for you.

Thanks for your help.

So I've been doing a bit of reading here about aircraft frequency. Apparently it is governed by the file AirStrike.cfg; specifically the line
'Default Air Strike Probability'. In every version I have of RSRD, this line is set to 50.

I thought RSRD was supposed to reduce the frequency of aircraft? If it is, then it's not working.

As KM said, don't be seen. Once you are spotted, think of it as they have your course and max speed, and can basically "track" you, and radio comms is 'simulated' also. So when spotted, dive for avoidance. Change course - drastically at first. Such as if going west, go northwest or southwest instead, or maybe closer to north or south for a while. If you have to stay down until nightfall, do so, then surface and Ahead Full in the general direction of your destination. TMO is a difficulty mod, of course, and RSRDC alters that just a little, so if you feel it too much, maybe you want to put Webster's Better Air Patrols on top of that. It is an AirStrike.cfg file only, and increases the frequency between AirStrike chances, but does slightly increase their accuracy, so the them still is "do not be seen". If you are seen, refer back to rule one - change course. :salute:

I've been doing all of the above. Including submerged during the day, surfaced at night. The latest is I get an air strike within 30 minutes of surfacing at night!

Been thinking of trying FotRS. But from what I've been reading, the problem might lie with the RSRD air config file.

I just happened to think (scary thought that)... have you cleared the Save folder between any major mod changes? Such going from Stock to TMO, or maybe after playing TMO and then adding RSRDC, did you empty the Save folder ("C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4" by default, unless you change it with MultiSH4 v1.5)? If you do not clear that folder, then you end up with a mix of stock and any mods loaded. For whatever reason, the game "assumes" that if a file has the same name in the Save folder, as one in the game folder, it will not replace that file, and thus you have a mix of mods, aka: mod soup. ?? That can cause issues with several aspects of the game.

No I haven't. Didn't know that was a thing.

I'll have to restart the career I assume?

i sent you a mod to change the AC performance. you should not have issues after applying it.

the delete-save-folder issue can arise when a player makes large changes to his playing config, such as removing and re-applying a new set of mods or re-ordering your mod-set for better functionality. the delete-process involves deleting this folder: \Documents\TMO\data\cfg\UserPlayerContext
and the files (not the folders) within this folder: \Documents\TMO\data\cfg.

your folder structure may be a bit different if you are not using the mutiple installation tool MultiSH4. instead of TMO, you may be using SH4. if i have lost you here, then just look for SH4 under your documents folder.:03:

when you restart the game, reload your saved game and re-apply your audio, video, and gameplay options and then SAVE the game under a different name.

then go sink some ships, and have fun doing it.
